Behind every strong educational program is a team of passionate people who inspire, challenge, mentor and support our educators to continually grow.

We are incredibly proud to recognise the amazing work of our Start Smart Pedagogy Mentor, Sharna, alongside our dedicated team of Educational Leaders from across our nine Start Smart services.

Their role extends far beyond programming and documentation. They inspire reflective practice, mentor and empower educators, strengthen curriculum decision-making, encourage creativity and innovation, and ensure that the voices, interests and needs of our children remain at the heart of everything we do.

Together, they create opportunities for educators to share knowledge, challenge their thinking, celebrate successes and continue developing their professional practice. Their leadership helps build consistency across our services while still allowing each centre, team and community to shine in its own unique way.

And of course, we couldn't celebrate Educational Leaders without acknowledging one of their greatest talents…

Turning “the children enjoyed it” into a three-paragraph critical reflection linked to the EYLF, child voice, intentional teaching, future planning and at least four learning outcomes! 😂

All jokes aside, Educational Leadership is an incredibly important role. It takes passion, knowledge, patience and a genuine commitment to supporting others.

A huge thank you to Sharna and our nine amazing Educational Leaders for the energy, knowledge and dedication you bring to Start Smart. The work you do behind the scenes has a ripple effect — supporting our educators, strengthening our programs and, most importantly, creating richer learning opportunities for our children.

Before the long weekend begins, we’d like to wish all of our wonderful families a happy and relaxing Ekka Day holiday.

Just a reminder that all of our centres will be closed on Monday for the public holiday. We hope you enjoy some quality time together, make beautiful memories, and return refreshed for another week of learning, laughter, and adventure.

🌿 Growing More Than Herbs… Growing Lifelong Values 🌿

At Smart Tots, our herb garden is more than a beautiful green space, it’s a living classroom and an important part of our sustainability journey.

Every day, our children nurture, water and care for the herbs, learning that even the smallest hands can make a positive difference to the world around them. Through these meaningful experiences, they develop patience, responsibility, respect for nature and an understanding of where fresh food comes from.

The best part? The herbs our children help grow are harvested and used by our centre chef in our daily meals, creating a wonderful connection from garden to plate. Seeing their efforts become part of lunchtime is a powerful reminder that learning extends far beyond the classroom.

By embedding sustainable practices into everyday experiences, we’re inspiring environmentally conscious, capable and caring young learners who understand the value of nurturing both people and the planet…one herb at a time. 🌱💚

Good nutrition and good learning go hand in hand, and at Smart Tots Alexandra Hills, we take both seriously.

That’s why we’re grateful to partner with Terry and Natalie from Capalaba Outpost Fruit & Vegetables, a local family business supplying the fresh produce behind every meal we serve.

From crunchy veggies to seasonal fruit, these deliveries do more than fill our kitchen, they spark curiosity, encourage our children to try new foods, and help build healthy habits that last a lifetime.

Our wonderful chef then turns that fresh produce into meals our children genuinely look forward to.
