We are so proud of our Eva Tilson who is finishing up a week in Sydney with The Arts Unit, as part of the NSW State Drama Ensemble.

Eva successfully auditioned for this ensemble last term and was one of the lucky few chosen. The NSW State Drama Ensemble is a highly-prized HPGE initiative for Drama students across the state. They will perform as part of the NSW State Drama Festival early next term.

Go Eva!

Last week, Ms O'Rance took Barradambang Dancers to the State Dance Festival, where eight talented dancers from across the Riverina had the incredible opportunity to perform Brolga's Crown: A Gift of Moonlight - a beautiful work choreographed by Wiradjuri woman Ella Havelka.

The State Dance Festival represents the highest level of dance in NSW, making this an incredible opportunity for our students. Our dancers performed with such passion, pride and presence, sharing their talent, culture and story on a statewide stage. We couldn't be prouder of all they achieved โœจ

One of the highlights of the experience was having the opportunity to rehearse with Ella and spend time with Aunty Chris Harris, who joined us for this special occasion and shared in the girls' achievements.

Ella also gifted each of our dancers a beautiful necklace featuring elements from the story of Brolga's Crown. It was such a meaningful gesture and a beautiful way for our students to carry a piece of the story with them beyond the stage.

From rehearsing together and performing on a statewide stage, to connecting more deeply with the story and spending time together as a group, this was an experience our dancers will remember for a long time.

A heartfelt thank you to -Country Pathways for your generous support and investment in our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. Your support helps create opportunities like this and gives our young people the space to share their talents, culture and stories. Thank you for backing our students, supporting their growth and helping make moments like this possible โค๏ธ

Big Picture is nationally accredited! As Big Picture learning has expanded across Australia and internationally, a refreshed accreditation process has been developed to support schools implementing the design. James Fallon High School chose to be the first school to pilot the new accreditation process this week. This involved an exhibition of our journey since 2019, and how we at JFHS have created an academy that provides a genuine choice in learning. Our students took the lead in the exhibition and were unsurprisingly articulate and passionate about the way they learn. When we began our journey with Big Picture, we were school #9 in Australia. We are now part of a network totalling 68 schools. It was a proud moment for our academy and our school, to again be a leader in learning, both locally and nationally.
Below is an eight-minute video showing our we have created a genuine, authentic choice in learning. Our school innovates in learning across the nation - we are so proud to be at the cutting edge of learning for students in Albury.

๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ’ช DETERMINATION, COURAGE AND A LITTLE BIT OF CAST-IRON SPIRIT! ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ

A huge congratulations to Gene Chaplin, who proudly represented James Fallon High School at the NSW State Athletics Championships in Sydney, competing in the 14 Years Boys 100m sprint! ๐Ÿ…

Gene's journey to the starting line was anything but ordinary. Just the week before, he had broken his wrist while playing Rugby League for Albury Thunder, who fought hard to finish runners-up in a thrilling competition in Wagga.

With his wrist in a cast, Gene wasn't sure whether he would be able to compete at State Athletics. But rather than letting the setback stop him, he decided to give it his best shot!

Despite racing with half his arm in a cast, Gene finished 15th out of 19 competitors in the 100m sprint! ๐Ÿ‘

Gene, your determination, resilience and willingness to give it a go are what make this achievement so special. You've shown that success isn't always about where you finish, but about the courage to step up, push through challenges and give your absolute best.

The entire James Fallon High School community is incredibly proud of you! What an outstanding example of our school values of Respect, Responsibility and Achievement.

Congratulations, Gene! You've certainly earned your stripes on the track! ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ

๐ŸŽ“ ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT | REBECCA KAPINGA โ€“ CLASS OF 2019

From James Fallon High School to university graduate and a career she genuinely enjoys, Rebecca Kapingaโ€™s journey is a wonderful example of determination, growth and making the most of support along the way.

After graduating in 2019, Rebecca took time to explore her future options before completing a Certificate IV in Community Services. This became a stepping stone to university, where she successfully completed a Bachelor of Social Work (Honours). Along the way, Rebeccaโ€™s dedication was recognised through multiple scholarships and awards.

Rebecca remembers the support she received from James Fallon teachers, particularly while navigating language barriers. Individual assistance, including help translating learning material from French to English, helped build her understanding and confidence. She also fondly remembers participating in dance and singing performances, which gave her opportunities to express herself, connect with others and feel part of the school community.

Her message to current students is an important one: push yourself to do your best and never be afraid to ask for help.

Rebeccaโ€™s story reminds us that success doesnโ€™t always follow one straight pathway. With effort, support and a willingness to keep learning, the foundations built at school can lead to exciting opportunities.

Congratulations, Rebecca โ€” weโ€™re proud to share your journey! ๐Ÿ’œ
