Year 12 wins the annual Staff versus Year 12 Speedball Match. It was a tightly contested game, but in the end the Class of 2026 was just too good.

As part of National Book Week, Year 10 Geography is reading their original storybooks on the global environment to St Anne's primary students, plus there's an exhibition in the Catherine Macauley Centre. Also - our Year 11 and 12s and staff have an optional Book Week Dress Up Parade on Thursday. Should be a fun book week!

The Semester One 2026 Academic Awards Assembly celebrated Xavier's outstanding academic, cultural, and sporting achievements, highlighting our mission to be a beacon in our region for Catholic educational excellence.

Through our four pillars of Welcome, Faith, Service and Learning we are dedicated to providing excellence in education that nurtures the whole student. Semester One showcases incredible successes across our four pillars and sets an exciting, high-aspiring tone for the rest of 2026.

📜Academic Awards (Years 7–11) - Awarded to 119 students who achieved Academic Excellence in Semester One results.

💃🏻🎾Creative Arts & Sporting Highlights
Dance: The new Xavier Dance Troupe (led by Ms Blomley & Year 12's Amelia) took 3rd place in their Albury Eisteddfod debut.
Carnivals: Aquinas won Swimming; McAuley won Cross Country & Athletics. Medallions were awarded to all Age Champions.
Teams: Major successes in tennis, netball, rugby league (Thunder Cup champs), AFL (Albury champs), & basketball (Open Girls 1st in the state).

🏀NSW Representatives
NSW CCC: Jake, Archie, and Lewis.
NSW CCC & All Schools: Zander, Phoebe, Samuel, Judd, Kijana, Emmi, Dorothy, Alessandro, and Eva (who was also named NSW CCC 16 Years Female Age Champion).

🌟Justin Clancy Community Recognition Statements
Weston: Solo Novice piping champion heading to the 2026 Belfast International Tattoo.
Kijana: Selected for NSW All Schools Basketball & Netball.
Alexis: 400m Bronze at Vic State Little Athletics & national qualifier.
Aneska: Medals across national and state waterskiing.
Evanna: State and national medals and being crowned an Australian Champion in waterskiing.
Jaxton: Medals in elite national and international waterskiing competitions.
Nate: Medals across national events and being crowned an Australian Champion in waterskiing.
Mia: Qualified for the Australian para swim team for the Glasgow Commonwealth Games.

🎷🎤Musical Performances
Saxophone: Raphael (Yr 7) performed Bon Jovi’s "Livin' on a Prayer".
Vocals: Mabelle (Yr 10 GATE-way elite performance) sang Olivia Rodrigo’s "The Cure".

Xavier at Interschool Snowsports Championships 🚡

We were thrilled to have eight Xavier students competing at the Interschool Snowsports Championships up at Falls Creek at the end of July.

Under some pretty hectic conditions up on the mountain - from hardly any snow and almost spring-like conditions, combined with very strong winds for the Alpine Giant Slalom, to a massive 15cm dump of fresh snow overnight that created wild conditions for the Ski Cross course the next day - all eight of Xavier's ski-loving students gave it their best.

⛷ Alpine Giant Slalom - Seven students placed in the top 10 in the Alpine Giant Slalom with Christian, Evanna, Aneska and Matilda all performing well. Special mention to Darcy, who placed first 🥇in Division 3 Multiclass, and Perry who placed second 🥈 in Division 1.

☃ Ski Cross - Congratulations to Aneska (9th), Matilda (8th) and Evanna (6th) who all competed strongly in Division 3 Ski Cross. Special mention to Christian who placed 4th in Division 3, and Darcy who again took out the Gold! 🥇

Snow Australia announced a 40% increase in participation this year, making it one of the biggest Interschools events yet. What an incredible achievement for school snowsports and a testament to just how much the sport continues to grow both at Xavier and in our local community 🎿

Join us on Friday, 21st August for an action-packed day of school spirit, year-level activities, live music, the Push Up Challenge, and the epic Staff vs. Year 12 Speedball game!

Wear your House colors with pride and get ready to jump into all the House spirit across the day.

We have an amazing lineup of food vans on site, including Woodfire Pizza, Baked Potatoes, Boost Juice, Happy Cat Donuts, and Monumental Ice Cream.

It's Awards Assembly on Tuesday, PST Conferences for Years 8-10 on Wednesday, Man of the Shroud on Thursday - and then Xavier Community Day on Friday.

Should be a great way to spend Week 5 here at Xavier Catholic College.
