If we want our boys to grow into happy, healthy, kind men, we need to shift the spotlight onto what healthy manhood looks like. So, from August, my team and I plan to run a masterclass each month for the rest of the year, featuring special guests — men who not only work closely with boys and other men, but who have dedicated their lives to helping our boys shine.
In each class, my guest and I will aim to help parents, teachers and community members better understand how we can support our boys on the journey to adulthood in a world that seems to be more full of risk, harm and negative influence.
My first guest will be Daniel Principe, who spends his days working with boys in primary schools, high schools and universities talking about everything from what it means to be a male in today's world, to consent, respect and relationships.
He has some fascinating insights into what is going on for our boys and young men and how that affects how they see the world, relate to others, and feel about themselves.
Daniel joins me for a lunchtime masterclass on Tuesday 11th August in which we'll talk about what it takes to help our boys to be their best selves.
As part of our chat, we'll cover:
🔹 what we parents and educators need to know – based on what boys tell Daniel
🔹 why adolescence is a different journey for boys today
🔹 the keys to effective, respectful communication
🔹 how to help boys shift the rigid stereotypes that exist around being a 'real man'
🔹 ways to deal with disrespectful behaviour and derogatory comments at home or school
🔹 what works best in raising decent, kind, empathetic men when there is still a lot of negativity about vulnerability and mental health challenges
and more...
