🎉 Confetti Lawyer Truth #43
Not every opportunity deserves a yes.
This is one of the hardest lessons we've learnt in business.
For years, we thought every opportunity should be grabbed with both hands.
Every client.
Every project.
Every committee.
Every speaking engagement.
Every collaboration.
Because saying no felt risky.
What if I missed out? What if the opportunity never came again? What if someone else got there first?
But over time, we've come to realise that the most successful people aren't saying yes to everything.
They're saying yes to the right things.
The things that align with their values, bring them closer to their goals and leave enough room for a life outside of work.
Because every yes costs something whether it be time, energy or attention.
And sometimes the most courageous response isn't 'I'd love to.' it's 'thank you for thinking of me, but not right now.'
🎉 Here's your reminder that not every opportunity is an opportunity.
What's something you've said no to that turned out to be exactly the right decision?

CLUB SPOTLIGHT ✨
Meet Gemma Nugent.
Gemma is a plain English construction contract specialist who helps builders, contractors, engineers and consultants navigate complex contracts with greater clarity and confidence.
Gemma's work is all about making contracts practical, fair and usable while helping clients negotiate better terms, price projects with confidence, and avoid problems before they arise.
After rejoining The Club earlier this year, Gemma is looking forward to making the most of the Practice Sprints, Faculty resources and community connections as she continues refining and streamlining her business.
What we love about Gemma's story is the blend of logic and creativity. Outside of law, she's an avid reader, recently started learning piano, plays the violin, and is planning to join a community orchestra this year.
And if law hadn't called? She thinks she may have become a librarian or perhaps a carpenter.
It's that combination of curiosity, creativity and practical thinking that makes Gemma such a valuable part of our community.
We're very glad to have her back.

Hey Siri, set a reminder for Monday morning... book a spot in Collaborative Practice Training.
These workshops don't come around too often, so if you're in Brisbane or hey... Queensland! Book yourself a spot, turn it into a weekend away and show up for yourself and your clients. Because this is the way we harness those Introductory learnings and really put them into practice.
Share this with a colleague and come together!

It's easy to think systems are impersonal and that pricing frameworks, workflows and processes somehow take away from the relationships we build with clients.
In reality, the opposite is often true.
When you're no longer tied to the billable hour, you spend less time tracking, recording and justifying every six minutes. That creates space for clearer conversations, greater certainty and a client experience built on trust rather than time.
Fixed and value pricing isn't simply a different way to charge.
It's part of creating a practice where your expertise is valued, your team has confidence in the process, and your clients know exactly where they stand.
The right systems don't replace the human side of your work but rather... they protect it.
If you're ready to explore a different way of running your firm, our Fixed & Value Pricing program shares the practical frameworks, tools and lessons Clarissa has developed through years of refining this approach in practice.
Because the best systems aren't there to get in the way of great client care.
They're there to make more room for it.
So, jump online and sign yourself up for the online course. It's there when you're ready!

Yes, we’re jumping on the chic trend.
Well, because it’s chic.
Also chic? Doing something about the bits of your law firm you know need attention.
Now kicking off in Sydney. One place left in Reboot. 👀

Confetti Lawyer Truth #3
One of the most common things we hear from boutique firm owners is: 'I've built a successful firm, but somehow I'm working harder than ever.'
If that resonates, it might be time to stop asking how to work harder and start asking how to build differently.
Have you heard about our Boutique Firm Reboot? This course is fundamentally about creating a firm that isn't wholly dependent on its owner. And guess what... we have an in-person workshop coming up at the end of August.
So! If this sounds like you, you should head to the link in our bio and check it out for yourself.
It's going to change the way you structure your firm. And your personal life will thank you.

Every law firm owner has moments that never make it onto LinkedIn. Not because they're failures, but because we're human.
They're the moments that stay with you after everyone else has gone home or the conversation with a client that stays with you long after you've left the office.
The pricing decision you replay in your head or the team meeting you wish had gone differently.
And the holiday where your laptop quietly came along too.
Owning a law firm can be incredibly rewarding, but it can also feel surprisingly lonely. Over the years, I've learnt that most firm owners don't need another course or another checklist. Sometimes the biggest shift isn't finding the answer. It's having someone to help you think it through.
Someone they can send a voice memo to after a difficult conversation, before a big decision, or in those moments when they're quietly wondering, "There has to be a better way to do this."
That's exactly why we created the Boutique Firm Reboot. Ninety days of practical support, honest conversations and having someone in your corner who understands both the practice of law and the business of running one.
If this feels familiar, we'd love to have you with us. We're now taking expressions of interest for The Boutique Firm Reboot starting soon!
Comment Reboot and we will link you (or find the details on the link in our bio!)

So... where are you at?
Every conversation I have with lawyers seems to start with a sentence like one of these.
"Everything's fine." (It usually isn’t.)
"I should probably talk to other firm owners more."
"I've been meaning to do Collaborative Practice training."
"Our team needs this conversation."
Over the years, Happy Lawyer Happy Life has grown into a whole range of ways to support lawyers, law firm owners and legal teams.
So we thought we'd put them all in one place.
Swipe on through! You might just find the thing that's been sitting in the back of your mind.
