A week on from All In for Reconciliation, we are still reflecting on the meaning of this event for our school community. It was a powerful opportunity to come together, celebrate culture, and reflect on our shared responsibility to centre Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voices as we strive for a more just and culturally connected Australia.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Albany Primary School, the Kaarl Wirn Dancers, Aunty Eliza, Aunty Averil, and Uncle Lindsay Dean, along with our Aboriginal and Intercultural Studies students, Follow the Dream students, and all staff and students whose dedication made the evening so meaningful.
While this event was a moment of celebration, it also marks just the beginning of our ongoing journey as a school. We remain committed to listening, learning, and walking together in the spirit of reconciliation.

π§π¨ Hands-on learning in action! π¨π§
A group of our Year 9 students recently rolled up their sleeves and got stuck into a hands-on Building & Construction experience at TAFE!
Working together as a team, they took on the challenge of erecting timber framing from start to finish. From digging the holes to pouring concrete and setting the frames, they demonstrated initiative, resilience, and a willingness to get their hands dirty.
These frames will soon showcase signage and the Aboriginal flag as part of the new cultural space being built at TAFE.
It was fantastic to see their teamwork, problem-solving, and positive attitude in action! π

Certificate II Visual Arts students recently visited the Town Hall in Albany to explore the artwork of WA artist Howard Taylor and learn about careers in Visual Arts. Indra Geidans, Visual Arts Officer, discussed her role in program development, gallery coordination, and public artwork approvals. She explained the exhibition process, from artwork arrival to installation conditions. Students participated in an artwork conditioning report with Public Programs Officer Natalie Radivojevic, carefully inspecting each piece's dimensions and conditions.
They also met Technical Coordinator Cameron Findlay, who shared insights on his diverse role in managing lighting, film, and sound for events in the Great Southern region. We thank Natalie for customising the excursion for our students and acknowledge the City of Albany and AGWA for bringing the Howard Taylor Art exhibition to Albany, enriching students' understanding of Australian art.

Year 9 Career Taster in Health and Education Support!
This week a group of Year 9 students participated in a Career Taster in Health and Education Support, spending the day at TAFE exploring these exciting industries.
Students had the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and learn about training pathways available through TAFE, while also exploring VETDSS options for senior school.
It was a fantastic chance for students to start thinking about future career pathways and what opportunities may lie beyond school!
