Today we share some difficult news.

After careful consideration, the Albany Community Kindergarten Committee has made the decision to apply to the Department of Education to place the Kindergarten into abeyance for the 2027 school year.

This decision follows lower-than-required enrolments for next year and was one we never wanted to make. It has been made with great care and with the future of our community at heart.

To the generations of families who have laughed, learned, played and grown within these walls... thank you❤️

While our Kindergarten program will pause in 2027, we don't believe this is the end of the story.

Our Committee is now exploring how this much-loved space can become a welcoming community hub where local families can continue to connect, play and create memories together.

Thank you to everyone who has been part of Albany Community Kindergarten's incredible journey. Your support, kindness and belief in our little Kindy has meant the world.

Thank you ABC Great Southern for helping us save our Kindy

The Albany Community Kindergarten is at risk of closing if it does not receive more enrolments.

Committee member Jade Malanczak said they need a minimum of 16 students to operate and currently they have less than 10.

“This year we got an exemption from the Department of Education, unfortunately they only give you one exemption,” she said.

“Unless they get up or very close to 16 we won’t be able to get an exemption, and we won’t be able to run the program.”

Ms Malanczak said they owned the building and were potentially considering leasing it out if they were unable to continue.

In the spirit of complete transparency, unless we receive over 10 more enrolment applications for 2027, this will be our last year of operations.

Waiting for a turn can help learning patience skills.

Building a cubby with friends means discovering teamwork.

These everyday moments may seem small, but they're helping children develop the confidence, social skills and independence.

We know starting kindy is a big step for both children and parents.

New faces, new experiences and new hurdles. But there’s also plenty of opportunities to learn and grow.

We’re here to encourage curiosity, celebrate milestones and help children build friendships along the way.

Our little learners have been busy creating some colourful masterpieces lately, and we just had to share them!

From spiders and caterpillars to kites, clouds and butterflies, it's amazing to see the creativity, imagination and fine motor skills developing through play and art 🎨✨
