Last Wednesday, North Albany Senior High School proudly hosted our second Lifeskills Expo for our upper school students.
The Lifeskills Expo brings together a wide range of community agencies and organisations that support young people as they transition into adult life. Students had the opportunity to connect with services focused on health and wellbeing, careers and apprenticeships, tertiary education, and financial, social, legal and housing support.
This year we were fortunate to welcome representatives from Advance Housing, Amity Health, Anglicare Financial Counselling, Apprenticeship Support Australia, ATC Work Smart, AYSA, City of Albany Library, Great Southern Community Legal Services, Great Southern University Centre, headspace, WACHS, Jobs and Skills WA, Palmerston, WA Police, Relationships Australia, Southern Aboriginal Corporation, TAFE, Swan Transit, Wellington & Reeves and YAC.
Students were equipped with a "passport" that encouraged them to visit each stall, collect stamps and engage in meaningful conversations by asking questions of our stallholders. It was fantastic to see so many students taking the opportunity to learn about the services, support and pathways available to them.
A huge thank you to all the organisations that generously gave their time to participate. Events like the Lifeskills Expo are invaluable in helping our students build connections within the community, develop confidence, and gain the knowledge they need to make informed decisions
