Piano/Keyboard Teacher Wanted For Kids Classes

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: AU$25.00 to AU$31.00 per hour + super & part time benefits

Job description:

Do you love working with children and the idea of teaching and mentoring children and adults as they discover the joy of learning keyboard and music?

Music Lessons Albany is launching some brand-new keyboard programs for children aged 6-12 years old alongside private lessons for older students, and we’re looking for a teacher who can make music lessons fun, interactive, and inspiring.

This role is ideal for someone with a background in music, theatre, dance, or other children’s group activities who wants to bring those skills into teaching keyboard, however we can train you if you have not had previous teaching experience as long as you have some strong foundations in playing piano or keyboard.

You don’t need to spend hours preparing lessons, with our ready-to-use curriculum and resources, you can focus on engaging students, sparking their creativity, and helping them grow in confidence.

We have 4 hours of weekly work guaranteed with students ready to go as well as a waitlist of people seeking piano lessons. The role is expected to be up to 12 hours (including weekly training) within 2 months as we launch the program with potential for additional working hours for the right candidate.

Why Join Us?

Equipped Studio – a musical playground of keyboards, percussion, and pitched instruments ready for lessons.
Curriculum Provided – use our ready-to-go teacher resources (KeyNotes curriculum), saving prep time so you can focus on teaching.
Engaged Students – our learners choose to be here; you’ll be working with motivated children, teens, and adults.
Ongoing Support – a team manager helps with lesson quality and student progress so you can teach with confidence.
Admin Handled – we manage cancellations, payments, and scheduling so you don’t have to.
Paid for Your Time – whether teaching, training, or planning, your rostered hours are paid.
Community Collaboration – opportunities to work with our partner business, Guitar Lessons Albany, on events and performances to provide a unique experience.
What Winning Looks Like in This Role

Students show clear progress in their skills and confidence.
Parents and students give positive feedback on your lessons.
Lessons are engaging, professional, and tailored to each learner.
You contribute to a supportive, vibrant school culture that keeps students coming back each week.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver individual and group keyboard lessons using provided curriculum as well as your own teaching methods.

Support events such as concerts and recitals, helping students prepare.
Contribute ideas and content for social media and community engagement.
Work with other teachers and management to support the school’s goals.
Maintain a clean and organized teaching environment.
Work Hours & Schedule

Expected up to 12 hours within 2 months, with the potential to grow with further enrolments. Work immediately available for Tuesday and Wednesday between 3:30pm and 5:45pm
Peak teaching times include weekday afternoons, evenings, and occasionally weekends.
Participation in occasional events outside regular teaching hours.
Compensation & Benefits

This is a part-time position paid in line with the Miscellaneous Award 2020, with higher rates available for teachers with a teaching degree.
Superannuation, annual leave and sick leave as per Miscellaneous Award.
Competitive hourly rate, based on experience and qualifications.
Paid training and ongoing professional development.
Opportunities for career growth as the program expands.
Discounts on school services and products.
Location & Environment

Based at Music Lessons Albany Pty Ltd, Shops 6 & 7/9 Albany Highway, Pettersson’s Arcade.
Potential to teach at off-site venues during daytime hours at St Joseph's College.
