Piano/Keyboard Teacher Wanted For Kids Classes

Do you love working with children and the idea of teaching and mentoring children and adults as they discover the joy of learning keyboard and music?
Music Lessons Albany is launching some brand-new keyboard programs for children aged 6-12 years old alongside private lessons for older students, and we’re looking for a teacher who can make music lessons fun, interactive, and inspiring.
This role is ideal for someone with a background in music, theatre, dance, or other children’s group activities who wants to bring those skills into teaching keyboard, however we can train you if you have not had previous teaching experience as long as you have some strong foundations in playing piano or keyboard.
You don’t need to spend hours preparing lessons, with our ready-to-use curriculum and resources, you can focus on engaging students, sparking their creativity, and helping them grow in confidence.
We have 4 hours of weekly work guaranteed with students ready to go as well as a waitlist of people seeking piano lessons. The role is expected to be up to 12 hours (including weekly training) within 2 months as we launch the program with potential for additional working hours for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities
Deliver individual and group keyboard lessons using provided curriculum as well as your own teaching methods.
Adapt lesson plans to each student’s needs, goals, and pace.
Track attendance and student progress.
Support events such as concerts and recitals, helping students prepare.
Contribute ideas and content for social media and community engagement.
Work with other teachers and management to support the school’s goals.
Maintain a clean and organized teaching environment.
Work Hours & Schedule
Expected up to 12 hours within 2 months, with the potential to grow with further enrolments. Work immediately available for Tuesday and Wednesday between 3:30pm and 5:45pm
Peak teaching times include weekday afternoons, evenings, and occasionally weekends.
Participation in occasional events outside regular teaching hours.
Compensation & Benefits
This is a part-time position paid in line with the Miscellaneous Award 2020, with higher rates available for teachers with a teaching degree.

Potential to teach at off-site venues during daytime hours at St Joseph's College.

What We’re Looking For
A passionate keyboard/piano teacher who loves sharing the joy of learning and music.
Someone with experience engaging groups of children, whether through teaching, musical theatre, dance, early childhood programs, or similar activities.
Energetic, patient, and creative, with the ability to make lessons fun and interactive.
Professional and reliable, with strong communication skills to connect with both students and parents.
Requirements
Enthusiasm for teaching children and communicating with parents.
Ability to play and teach keyboard/piano with both hands (melody and accompaniment).
Willingness to use curriculum resources and teach to a plan.

Solid understanding of fundamentals (basic rhythm, names of the notes of the piano, basic chords and scales).
Basic sight-reading abilities to teach beginner melodies and accompany songs.
Formal music or education qualifications are valued but not essential.
Secondary instrument skills (Guitar, Drums, Singing etc.) are valued but not essential.
Current Working With Children Check (or willingness to obtain before starting).
Right to work in Australia.
Current National Police Clearance (desirable, not mandatory) may be required for some tasks, such as teaching at external venues, community events, or partner organisations.
