What a beautiful morning in Albany for our Crawley Optometry students โ๏ธ
This morning, Shandell and Jasmine facilitated a Cultural Orientation out on Country.
It was a wonderful opportunity for students to connect with Country, culture and community while learning more about the local region and Aboriginal perspectives.

๐ฟ Students in the Aboriginal Voices unit, led by Shandell Cummings, recently took part in a series of hands-on cultural learning experiences focused on Aboriginal resilience, sustainability and traditional knowledge.
Field trips included visits to the Oyster Harbour fish traps and Upper Kalgan, where students learnt about traditional fishing practices, local history and archaeology. Students also explored bush foods and medicines with Jessikah Woods from Awesome Aboriginals, and joined Larry Blight from Kurrah Mia for a hands-on traditional toolmaking session.
What exciting classes to be part of at UWA Albany! These experiences gave students a valuable opportunity to connect with local culture, history and knowledge on Country.
