Today we had the privilege of Camp Quality visiting our centre to present their Camp Quality Puppet Program to the children.

Camp Quality’s puppets have been visiting Early Learning Centres across Australia for more than 30 years, helping young children learn and talk about cancer in an age-appropriate, engaging and supportive way. The program is designed in line with the Early Years Learning Framework and helps children develop understanding, empathy and inclusion.

During the visit, the children watched The Buddy Bench, a 30-minute puppet show about Kylie, who has cancer and is feeling nervous about returning after chemotherapy because she looks different. With support from her friend Dean, the story explores positivity, friendship, inclusion and the important message that you cannot catch cancer.

The program used clear and appropriate language, including words such as cancer and leukaemia, to help young children build an understanding of these topics in a safe and supported way.

We would like to thank Camp Quality for coming to our centre! 💛

Whether your child is already attending early learning, getting ready to start, or you're still exploring your options, it's natural to have questions.

💭 Will my child feel safe and supported? 💭 How will they cope with new experiences and changes? 💭 What can I do to help them feel confident and settled?

Listen to Episode 1 of What I Wish I Knew... The Early Learning Guide podcast, with child development expert Dr Billy Garvey as he explains why transitions are such an important part of childhood and how strong, supportive relationships help children navigate change with confidence.

From starting early learning to moving rooms, making new friends or tackling other big milestones, transitions are a normal part of growing up. When children feel safe, supported and connected, they're more likely to embrace new experiences, build confidence and develop the resilience they need to thrive.

🎧 Tune in to hear Dr Billy's expert insights and explore more episodes of What I Wish I Knew... The Early Learning Guide podcast: https://brnw.ch/21x5ztn

💛 Because every child deserves to feel safe, supported and a true sense of belonging as they grow, learn and discover the world around them.

🔥🚒 Father’s Day Afternoon Tea 🚒🔥

Today we celebrated the wonderful dads, grandads, uncles and special people in our children’s lives with our Father’s Day afternoon tea! 💙

The afternoon was made extra special thanks to Blair and the team from DFES, who stopped by with the fire engine for everyone to explore.

And really… is there anything dads like more than a fire engine? 😂 The children were pretty impressed too! 🚒

A huge thank you to Blair and the DFES team for taking the time to visit us, and to all of our families who joined us for such a lovely afternoon. We hope all of our dads and special people have a very happy Father’s Day this Sunday! 💙

💛 Happy Early Childhood Educators’ Day! 💛

Today we celebrate the incredible educators who make our centre such a special place every single day.

Our educators are the ones wiping tears, celebrating milestones, giving cuddles, encouraging independence, creating meaningful learning experiences and making sure every child feels safe, loved and like they belong.

It’s all the little moments, repeated hundreds of times each day, that make such a huge difference in the lives of children and families. ❤️

We are so lucky to have such a caring, dedicated and passionate team.

To all of our amazing educators, thank you for everything you do, today and every day. Happy Early Childhood Educators’ Day! 🌻💛

Ever had one of those "What should I be doing with my child?" moments? You might already have the answer at home.

Earlier this year, every Goodstart family received a What & When for Families guide for each child. If it's been tucked away in a drawer since then, now might be the perfect time to pull it back out.

The guide is packed with simple, play-based activities that support your child's learning and development at home. Best of all, it's written in your child's voice, with ideas tailored to their age and developmental stage.

From singing songs with babies and playing peek-a-boo, to "I Spy" games, storytelling and treasure hunts with older children, the activities are designed to fit naturally into everyday moments you already share together.

We know learning doesn't only happen in the classroom. Those small moments at home can help build big communication, language and literacy skills.

Take another look through your What & When for Families guide to explore age-appropriate activities and learning ideas you can try together.

💛 Sometimes the best learning resource is the one you already have at home.

📚✨ Book Week 2026: Symphony of Stories! ✨📚

Today we celebrated Book Week with our very own Book Week Dress Up Day, and what a fun day it was! 🌟

Our centre was filled with some very familiar faces, including Thelma the Unicorn, the Queen of Hearts, Elsa and Anna, Where the Wild Things Are, The Little Mermaid and what felt like an entire multiverse of Spider-Men with around 10 swinging their way through the centre! 🕷️😂

It was so much fun seeing the children (and educators!) bring their favourite stories and characters to life and sharing in the excitement together.

This year’s theme, “Symphony of Stories,” was the perfect celebration of all the different stories, characters and imaginations that make books so special. 📖🎶

Thank you to all of our families for getting involved and helping make today such a fun and memorable celebration of Book Week! 💛

🌱🌿 Our gardens have had a little refresh! 🌿🌱

A big thank you to Bunnings Albany for their recent donation, which has helped us refresh both our outdoor Sensory Garden and indoor hydroponic garden! 💚

The children have been involved throughout the process, from watching new dill seeds being planted in our hydroponic garden to helping relocate our lemon balm and plant some new Native River Mint outdoors. There was also plenty of curiosity as protective netting was added to help give our new plants the best chance to grow and flourish.

Our edible Sensory Garden now includes apple trees, lavender, thyme, parsley, mint, Native Sage, native rosemary, Native River Mint, lemon balm and Portuguese rosemary. 🍎🌿

Over the coming weeks and months, the children will continue to help care for our gardens, watch for new growth and explore the different smells, textures and tastes they produce. We also look forward to using what we grow in future learning and play experiences.

We can't wait to see how our little gardens grow! 🌱☀️
