The final countdown is on! 💛🐝

Our Assistant Director Abbey is officially just 3 weeks away from starting her maternity leave, and we couldn’t be more excited for her as she prepares to welcome her beautiful baby girl.

Today we celebrated with a gorgeous bee-themed nappy cake, lots of smiles, and plenty of excitement as we count down the final weeks before her newest adventure begins.

Abbey has been such an important part of our Goodstart Albany family for many years, and while we will certainly miss her while she is away, we can’t wait to meet the newest little member of the Goodstart family.

Not long now, Abbey! 💕🐝

There’s something really special about hearing it straight from the children and families themselves 🤍

We asked some of our Goodstart Albany children and families what they love most about our centre… and their answers were the sweetest reminder of why we do what we do every day.

From friendships and favourite educators to feeling safe, loved and excited to come each morning, these little moments are what make our community so special.

Thank you to the families who chose to be part of this video and to our amazing team who help create these connections every single day ✨

This week our team had the opportunity to attend the See It, Stop It, Say It child protection training presented by Child Australia.

We are so grateful to Helen from Child Australia for travelling to Albany to deliver such a valuable and important session. Our team took so much away from the training, and it sparked some really meaningful reflection and conversations together.

In Early Childhood Education and Care, continued learning is so important. The sector is always evolving, and professional development helps us continue building our knowledge, strengthening our practices, and ensuring we are providing safe, supportive environments for every child in our care.

Thank you again, Helen, for sharing your knowledge with us 🤍

There is something so powerful about hands-on learning experiences that invite children to explore, imagine, question and create together. 🌎🌊

This land and sea sensory experience sparked so many rich conversations between educators and children as they navigated different environments, animals, textures and imaginative storylines together.

Through open-ended play experiences like this, children are developing language skills, problem solving, social connections, creativity and an understanding of the world around them. Educators were able to extend learning through meaningful conversations about where animals live, the differences between land and sea habitats, caring for living things and collaborative play.

Some of the richest learning moments in Early Childhood happen through play, curiosity and shared conversation. 💛

Ever wondered what actually happens when a child gets injured in an Early Childhood Education and Care setting? 🤍

While bumps and falls are a normal part of childhood, there is so much happening behind the scenes to ensure children are comforted, cared for, monitored, and supported.

From immediate first aid and emotional reassurance, to family communication and documentation, every step matters.

This little behind-the-scenes video gives a glimpse into the care, professionalism, and quick response that happens every single day in Early Childhood Education and Care. 🩹✨

This week I travelled to Perth for professional development, and it really reminded me how grateful I am to work for an organisation that genuinely values continuous improvement and lifelong learning.

In Early Childhood Education and Care, we know that learning never stops. Having the opportunity to connect with others in the sector, reflect on practice, explore new ideas and continue growing as a leader is something I never take for granted.

At Goodstart, there is such a strong focus on quality, reflection and always striving to do better for children, families and teams. I’m incredibly thankful to be part of an organisation that invests so heavily in its people and supports us to keep evolving in our practice every single day. 💛
