Today we welcomed Karina into our daycare from Elite family daycare offices to perform our annual reassessment.

The purpose of each annual venue assessments in family daycare is to ensure the ongoing health, safety, and wellbeing of children by identifying and managing hazards, verifying compliance with the Australian Children's Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA), and maintaining a safe, suitable home environment.

As always Dream big FDC was able to meet all these requirements and also enjoy the opportunity to showcase some of our set ups and recent activities.

Elite family daycare are such a supportive scheme and the staff are amazing. As an educator I would 100% reccomend them.

📢 **An important update for Elite families**

From **1 October 2026**, separate surcharges will no longer be permitted on eftpos, Mastercard and Visa debit, prepaid or credit card payments.

For many businesses, the solution is reasonably simple—they can add the cost of accepting card payments across the prices of all their products or services.

Family Day Care is not quite that simple.

Elite supports a network of independent Family Day Care educators, each operating their own small business. Educators may charge different care fees, while Elite administers family payments and Child Care Subsidy across many individual care arrangements.

Last year, Elite parents and guardians collectively paid **$24,376 in card surcharge fees**. From October, payment providers will continue charging these processing costs, but they can no longer appear as a separate card surcharge.

The challenge is deciding how these costs can be managed fairly within our unique model. We do not want to simply add costs across all families without first understanding:

* the fees our providers will continue charging;
* which payment methods generate those costs;
* how our software will report them; and
* how any changes may affect families and educators.

Elite raised these questions early with our software and payment providers. Unfortunately, clear answers and reporting solutions are still being developed.

At this stage, **no decision has been made and families do not need to do anything**. We are investigating the options and will keep you informed before any changes are introduced.

Our aim is to create the simplest and fairest process possible for everyone.

FDCA Excellence Awards 2026 nominations were finalised yesterday, and we are excited to share that Elite achieved outstanding results. We are incredibly proud of this accomplishment and the dedication behind it. This year, 40 educators received an Educator of the Year 2026 nomination, an exceptional achievement that reflects their extraordinary work in ECEC.

Elite FDC also received a Service of the Year 2026 nomination, a testament to the unwavering commitment of the entire Elite team who continually support educators in reaching their professional goals.

Our three BDMs were nominated for Coordinators of the Year 2026, recognising the personalised guidance they provide to each educator. They team up with educators to uphold compliance and create engaging learning environments where children can learn, grow, and feel safe.

While we await the final results, now is the perfect moment to pause and celebrate this remarkable achievement and the collective effort that made it possible.

Behaviour is communication. Sometimes it's a child telling us, "I'm not okay." ❤️

When we think of childhood trauma, we often picture major life events. But for a child, trauma can also stem from experiences such as:
🐾 The death of a beloved pet.
🏠 Parents separating.
💔 Losing a grandparent or other significant person.
🚚 Moving house or changing schools.
🏥 Serious illness or hospitalisation.
🌏 Natural disasters or other frightening events.

Every child responds differently. Some become clingy, some withdraw, others struggle to concentrate, become emotional, impulsive or display behaviours that adults may find challenging.

As early childhood professionals, it's important that we look beyond the behaviour and ask, **"What might this child be experiencing?"**

At Elite Family Day Care, we believe that understanding child development, brain development and the effects of trauma helps us provide the nurturing, responsive environments children need to feel safe, connected and ready to learn.

One of the greatest privileges of working with young children is that we have the opportunity to be a calm, consistent and caring presence during difficult times. While we can't change a child's past experiences, we can help shape how they move forward.

This week our team has been exploring the **Child Development and Trauma Guide**, a fantastic resource that explains different types of trauma, how they may present at different developmental stages, and practical ways adults can support children through healing.

Because sometimes the most powerful thing we can do isn't to change a child's behaviour—it's to understand what that behaviour is trying to tell us.

Important Notice: Upcoming Fee Adjustments & Child Care Subsidy Changes 🧸✨

Dear elite Families,

To ensure we can continue providing the highest-quality early education, care, and safe learning environments for your children, we are writing to update you on upcoming fee reviews for the new financial year starting 6 July 2026.

We know that household budgets are tight right now, so we want to be completely open and transparent about how Family Day Care pricing works and how upcoming government changes will help support you.

How elite FDC Educators set fees

Unlike standard childcare centres, our Family Day Care Educators operate as independent professional businesses. This means each educator sets their own individual fee structure based on the unique services they provide.

When determining their rates, educators must factor in their specific operating hours, specialised educational programs, and the rising costs of running a small business—including utilities, business insurances, educational materials, regulatory compliance, fuel and healthy groceries for the children.

Because every educator's service provision is unique, any upcoming price adjustments will vary across our scheme. Your individual educator will speak with you directly regarding any specific changes to their hourly or session rates.

How government changes will cushion the impact

To support families, we have aligned our scheme's annual review cycle to match the Federal Government’s indexation of the Child Care Subsidy (CCS), which takes effect on 6 July 2026.

On this date, the government automatically increases the CCS hourly rate caps to account for inflation. For most families, your subsidy threshold will rise at the exact same time as any fee changes, helping to cushion the impact and minimise changes to your out-of-pocket gap fees.

What happens next?

You do not need to do anything with your MyGov account; the new CCS subsidy caps will update automatically in our system.

Please speak directly with your educator over the coming days to discuss their specific service provision, fee structure, and what your adjusted daily or hourly rate will look like from July.

🎉 Assessment & Rating Showcase Complete! 🎉

A huge THANK YOU to the six incredible Elite Family Day Care Educators who were selected to showcase their services as part of our recent Assessment and Rating process.

While each service was physically unique, the assessors commented on something we are incredibly proud of – all six Educators demonstrated the same consistently high-quality program and practice. This reflects the shared commitment across our Elite family to providing exceptional education and care while still embracing individual styles, environments and strengths.

We were pleasantly surprised that the assessors had no questions at all for THREE of the Quality Areas! Even more encouraging, across the remaining four Quality Areas, only 1–3 questions were asked in each area. This has been the most positive assessment experience we have had to date.

Over the past few years, the Elite Family has worked hard to simplify systems, develop authentic resources, and create practical tools that support Educators to operate successful, high-quality services. Seeing this recognised through the assessment process is a wonderful reflection of the dedication, professionalism and passion of our Educators and support team.

To every Educator
and team member who has contributed to this journey – thank you. Your commitment to continuous improvement, quality outcomes and keeping things practical and meaningful for children and families is what makes Elite so special.

Now the hard part begins... waiting! ⏳

We have another 4–8 weeks before the process is finalised and the outcome is confirmed, but regardless of the result, we couldn't be prouder of what our educators have achieved.
