🎉 Happy World Turtle Day & a very special HAPPY 27TH BIRTHDAY to our beloved Bimbi turtle, Mr. T! 🎂💚

For 27 amazing years, Mr. T has brought so much joy, curiosity and smiles to our Bimbi family. Today we celebrate not only World Turtle Day, but also the wonderful memories and love our shelled friend has shared with us over the years. 🐢✨

The children absolutely adore visiting Mr. T, learning about turtles and watching him enjoy his day-to-day adventures. Here’s to many more years of sunshine, snacks and happy turtle moments! 🌿☀️

🚓🚦 Road Safety Week at Bimbi ELK 🚦🚓

This week, the children had a very exciting and special visit from one of our very own Bimbi mums, Sergeant Jessica Gaylard 👮‍♀️

The children learnt all about road safety, including how to safely cross the street, what the different traffic light colours mean, and what police officers do in their day-to-day roles to help keep our community safe.

One of the biggest highlights of the day was getting to see a real police car up close! The children were so excited to sit inside the police car and even have a turn turning on the sirens and flashing lights 🚨

Some of our toddler insights included:
💙 Kobe: “Blue and red lights”
🚨 Evie: “I turn the siren on, very loud”

Both our 3 & 4 year old kindergarten rooms showed off their artistic abilities by painting their very own traffic lights. Our 4 year old children also had some wonderful insights about their police visit.

A very big thank you to Sergeant Jessica Gaylard for taking the time to visit us and create such a fun, engaging and educational experience for the children. We are so grateful for your support within our Bimbi community ❤️

🔥 International Firefighters’ Day 🔥

Today at Bimbi ELK, we celebrated International Firefighters’ Day and what an incredible experience it was!

We were so lucky to be visited by real firefighters, including one of our very own Bimbi dads, who shared his knowledge and experiences with the children. They spoke about fire safety, including the dos and don’ts, who to ask for help, and important strategies to stay safe such as “stop, drop and roll,” calling 000, understanding the difference between good fires and bad fires, and how to protect themselves in an emergency and of course, saving cats in trees! 🐱

The firefighters also showed us the tools they use on the truck, and the children even had a turn using the fire hose, which was definitely a highlight! 🚒

The children were highly engaged and inquisitive throughout the visit. Some thoughtful questions from our 4-year-old kinder group included:

Allegra: “Why are fires so big?”
Gigi: "That's a fire extinguisher".

Henry: “How many firefighters are there?” and "You don't leave candles in the sun".

Poppy: “Why do firefighters drive really fast?”

Jade: “Why do firefighters wear that outfit?”

Our 3-year-old kinder group had some insights too:

Isabella: "My mummy doesn't have a smoke detector at home" and "If there's an emergency you have to call 000".

Emerson: "If you had stairs you have to crawl under the stairs".

William: "I already know to drop and roll".

Our toddler children were just as observant and excited, sharing their thoughts with us:
Ethan: “A fire truck!”
Kobe: “That’s red”

To make the day even more special, the children had the opportunity to see a real fire truck brought out from FS51 Keilor East, sparking so much curiosity, excitement, and wonder.

Kinder Info night at Bimbi ELK!

We had a wonderful time at our Kinder Information Night here at the centre!

It was so lovely to welcome both new and familiar families and share an insight into the exciting journey ahead for our kindergarten children.

Our amazing Kinder Teachers spoke in depth about what to expect in both our 3-year-old and 4-year-old kinder programs, giving families a clear understanding of daily routines, learning experiences, and how we support each child’s development, independence, and sense of agency.

We were also incredibly fortunate to have Harriet Kariko, a paediatric occupational therapist, join us on the night. Harriet provided valuable knowledge, practical strategies, and additional support for parents, helping to further guide families in supporting their child’s growth and development both at kinder and at home.

Thank you to everyone who attended, we truly appreciate your time and engagement. We’re so excited for the year ahead and look forward to continuing to build strong, supportive partnerships with our families 💛

Today, on ANZAC Day, we pause to remember the courage, sacrifice, and spirit of all those who served and continue to serve. We honour the men and women who gave so much for our country, and we reflect on the freedoms we enjoy because of them.

Their legacy lives on in the values of mateship, resilience, and remembrance.

🦷✨ Dental Visit Fun at Our Bimbi ELK! ✨🦷

Today we had a special visit from the Dental Squad, who came to support and check on the children’s dental health! 😁

The children had so much fun getting involved in hands-on learning experiences. They helped clean the lion’s teeth, making sure his smile was nice and bright and his teeth were pearly white! 🦁🪥

The dentist also spent time with each child, counting their teeth and giving them a gentle clean to ensure their teeth are strong, healthy, and well cared for. 🦷💙

This experience supported the children’s understanding of health and wellbeing, particularly the importance of personal hygiene and self-care routines. Through play and real-life experiences, the children explored why we brush our teeth, how to care for our bodies, and the role healthy habits play in keeping us strong.

We also focused on building the children’s confidence in unfamiliar situations, encouraging them to ask questions, express their feelings, and feel safe and supported during the visit. These moments help foster a positive attitude towards healthcare and promote lifelong wellbeing practices.

We love creating fun, engaging experiences that support healthy habits for life! 🌟
