Living Botanical Gardens of the sea 🌼🌸

As Guides we reconnect humans to nature. We help show the Great Barrier Reef in all its wondrous beauty, so visitors can better understand it, fall in love with it, bring others to come meet it and go away wanting to protect it.

Master Reef Guide Katie who works for Coral Expeditions took this photo only a few days ago at the Ribbon Reefs, and described this trip as one the most special she has ever done. She guided 4 people who could hardly swim and with the help of a tow pole she showed them the wonders of the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area, she was able to educate them on what they were seeing and helped connect them to the Great Barrier Reef in ways they never thought possible.

Today is World Environment Day 🌏
〰️
The Great Barrier Reef is one of the best known and most complex natural systems on Earth, and makes up about 10 per cent of the world's coral reef ecosystems. It is the sea country home for the first Australians β€” more than 70 Traditional Owner groups β€” whose connections to the marine environment date back more than 60,000 years. Today, and every day, we celebrate this spectacular and diverse ecosystem.
