This week our Toddler and Kindy2 children went for a visit to the Community Garden, where they engaged into a yoga/meditaion session followed by a walkthrough the garden to find flowers and enjoy nature. Yoga, combines movement with mindfulness, and it creates a health environment for children to slow down and develop their own emotional regulation strategies.

To start of this year’s reconciliation week, our educators, children and families, engaged in many different activities ranging from nature painting and tough trays set ups to Damper making and boomerang throwing. We also had one of our parents joining in to share their culture and knowledge around Damper making in a bit to strengthen our understanding of this year’s theme, which is “All In". The theme emphasizes that reconciliation is a shared responsibility, not just an activity for First Nations people. It encourages everyday actions, truth-telling, and active participation in the national journey toward a more just and equitable future.

🖤❤️💛💚💙🤍 At Green Leaves Early Learning, we’re proudly All In for National Reconciliation Week 2026 🖤❤️💛💚💙🤍
From 27 May to 3 June, we come together to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can commit wholeheartedly to reconciliation every day.
Reconciliation starts with all of us, including our youngest learners. Through moments of curiosity, storytelling, music, art and connection, children begin to build understanding, respect and a sense of belonging.
Because every small conversation, shared experience and learning moment helps us to build towards a more inclusive future, together.

Tea is one of the most spread tipe of beverage, in some countries with a tradition going back thousands of years, and continues to be an important role in our daily life across the world.
Tea ceremonies and tea rituals have been linked to wellbeing. To support our children’s wellbeing our Tiny Tots shared a cup of tea with each others and strengthened not only their wellbeing but also their community and sense of cultural identity.

On Endangered Species Day, our educators took this opportunity to promote empathy and environmental awareness by exploring species such as Tasmanian Devils, sea turtles, wombats, and Howe Island stick insects.
Through play-based, hands-on activities, children learn about habitat loss, biodiversity, and conservation, focusing on positive actions to protect the planet.

This week, our educators followed the children's lead and designed many invitations and provocations to play based on their ongoing interests. A common trend across all age groups is dramatic play, which lets children guide their own learning and explore ideas. Dramatic play is a foundational learning experience where children play pretend or role-play different scenarios, from real-world activities like grocery shopping to pretend fantasies like fairies and dragons. This teaching technique has a very meaningful impact on children as they develop their cognitive, social, and language skills.
