R U OK? DAY AT EAST PARA PRIMARY SCHOOL 💛

On Tuesday 8th September, we’ll be celebrating R U OK? Day at East Para Primary School.

R U OK? Day is a reminder that every day is the day to ask, “R U OK?” It encourages us to look out for the people around us, start conversations, listen with care and let others know that they are not alone.

For our students, it’s about learning that a simple question, a kind word, inviting someone to play or taking the time to listen can make a big difference. 💛

🌟 WEAR A SPLASH OF YELLOW! 🌟

Students are invited to wear a splash of yellow while still wearing their school uniform. This could be:
💛 Yellow socks
💛 A scrunchie
💛 A hair tie
💛 A headband
💛 A wristband
💛 Or any other small yellow accessory!

We’re looking forward to seeing lots of yellow around EPPS as we remind each other that everyone matters, everyone belongs and it’s always OK to ask, “R U OK?” 💛

📚🎶 BOOK WEEK 2026 AT EPPS! 🎶📚
Symphony of Stories 🎼📖

What an incredible week of celebrating the joy of books, reading and storytelling at East Para Primary School! 💙💛

On Wednesday, our school came alive for our Book Week Parade, with the school transformed into an amazing array of characters! We saw dinosaurs, wizards, sports stars, superheroes and so many beloved book characters bring the stories we love to life. 🦖🧙‍♀️🏀📚✨

Throughout the day, classes visited the library to explore what this year’s Book Fair had to offer and create their very own wish lists. 📚🛍️

Then, after school, our Late Night Book Fair brought our school community together for an evening of books, fun and entertainment! Families enjoyed:

📖 A special reading session with Mrs K, featuring one of our Book Week books
🎸 Fantastic performances from the EPPS Rock Band
🌭 A delicious sausage sizzle cooked by our wonderful staff
🐻 Visits from Beary, the Cat in the Hat and Hello Kitty
🏎️ A special appearance from our Pedal Prix trikes, giving students and families the chance to check them out up close

Our Canteen also joined in the Book Week fun, spoiling us with special recess and lunch orders inspired by some of this year’s favourite books! 🍎📚

And there was plenty happening in the library at lunchtime, with our School Captains supporting a range of activities including a scavenger hunt, Guess How Many Books in the Jar, bookmark making and Book Week quizzes. 🔎📚🖍️

A huge THANK YOU to our incredible school community for helping make Book Week such a special celebration. From the amazing costumes and enthusiastic participation to the families who joined us at the Book Fair, we are so grateful for your support.

💙 At EPPS, we love celebrating stories, imagination and the magic of books! 📚✨

📻☎️ SAVE THE DATE! 💾📷

Step back in time and re-live your childhood at our Museum of Technology Exhibition! 🎞️📺💿

Our Middle Primary students have been exploring how technology has changed over the decades through their History learning. They have also brought their learning into Media and Visual Arts, exploring print, visual and audio media.

Students have been investigating the technologies of the past and discovering how they have changed the way we live, work, communicate and entertain ourselves.

Now it’s time to share their learning with our school community! 🎉

📅 Thursday 17 September
⏰ 3:30–4:30pm
📍 GLA Building

Come along and explore our museum, see what the students have discovered, and take a nostalgic trip through the technologies that shaped our lives.

What technology do you remember from your childhood? 📼☎️💾📷

✨ Everyone is welcome! ✨

I hope you have your costumes ready to go! 1 week before our Book Week Parade! Tap ❤️ if you are all sorted!!

🌱🔬 Science Week 2026 🔬🌱

This year, National Science Week celebrates the theme “Seeds of Science: nurturing science for all.” 🌱

At East Para Primary School, we love seeing our students’ curiosity grow as they ask questions, investigate, explore, test ideas and discover how the world around them works.

Just like a seed needs the right conditions to grow, scientific understanding grows when we nurture curiosity, creativity, collaboration and a willingness to wonder. 🌱💡

Throughout Science Week, our students will have opportunities to explore scientific ideas, engage in hands-on investigations and see how their questions and discoveries can connect to the real world.

From the very first “I wonder…” to sharing a discovery with others, every question is a seed of scientific thinking. 🌏🧪✨

We can’t wait to see what our young scientists discover, investigate and grow this Science Week! 💙🌱

This term, upper primary are exploring the properties of matter and how to conduct fair tests and investigations. This week, we explored the big question: ‘Does gas have mass?’

Working in teams, students made a hypothesis, identified the variables and carefully measured fizzy drink bottles before and after releasing carbon dioxide gas. They worked collaboratively, communicating their ideas, sharing roles and comparing results.

Through this hands-on investigation, students discovered that although gases cannot always be seen, they still have mass!
