On Thursday of Week 5, our Middle Primary students enjoyed an exciting excursion to Adelaide Zoo as part of their Science learning about life cycles. 🦁🐼🐸

Students participated in an engaging education session exploring the life cycles of animals including stick insects, frogs and the Hosmer Skink. They were fascinated to learn that the Hosmer Skink is the only reptile that gives birth to live young instead of laying eggs!

A highlight of the day was seeing the pandas active and playful, along with exploring the many other amazing animals around the zoo. Students made wonderful real-world connections to their classroom learning, completed observation activities and asked thoughtful questions throughout the day.

We were incredibly proud of the way our students represented EPPS, showing respect, responsibility and enthusiasm at all times. A huge thank you to our parent volunteers for supporting the excursion and helping make the day such a success! 💛

As part of our year 5/6 HASS unit, students explored how Australian communities prepare for and respond to natural disasters such as bushfires. We were fortunate to have local firefighters visit our school and share their knowledge about fire safety, smoke alarms, different types of fires, emergency exits, and the important role firefighters play in keeping communities safe. Students had the opportunity to ask questions, explore a fire truck, try using a fire hose, and learn about the protective equipment firefighter’s wear. This hands-on experience helped students better understand how severe weather events and emergencies are managed in Australia and how being prepared can help keep people safe.

Our Upper Primary Korfball Tournament was a fantastic day filled with teamwork, encouragement, leadership and outstanding sportsmanship! 🏀👏

Throughout the day, learners supported one another and showed positive attitudes both on and off the court. It was wonderful to see so many classes come out to watch the games and cheer everyone on, creating an exciting atmosphere for all involved.

One of the highlights of the day was the parent and teacher versus student games, which brought lots of laughter, fun and friendly competition. A huge thank you to the parents and teachers who volunteered their time to play against each team!

Korfball is a dynamic mixed-gender sport that combines elements of basketball and netball, and our students did an amazing job showcasing their skills and teamwork throughout the tournament. Well done to everyone involved! 🎉

EPPS proudly hosted Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea in support of the Cancer Council, raising money for an incredibly important cause. 💛

The Cancer Council is Australia’s leading cancer charity, dedicated to reducing the impact of cancer through research, prevention programs, advocacy and support services. They provide valuable information and assistance to people affected by cancer, while also funding world-class research to help improve cancer treatments and outcomes for future generations.

A huge thank you to our fantastic ESO team who put together a delicious spread for everyone to enjoy. ☕🧁

A special mention to Sharon, who works tirelessly behind the scenes each year to organise this wonderful event. Your dedication and hard work are truly appreciated!

The morning was filled with fantastic raffles, a lucky teacup prize and an exciting photo shoot auction prize, helping make the event such a success.

Thank you to anyone who has donated. Together, we are making a difference. 💛

Today, our staff took part in a valuable Pupil Free Day focused on building our knowledge and understanding to better support all learners at East Para Primary School.

We were fortunate to have Mark Le Messurier present a highly engaging and thought-provoking workshop for staff throughout the day. Mark shared his expertise around learning difficulties, behaviour, neurodiversity, and creating inclusive, neuroaffirming environments for children and young people.

The day provided staff with practical strategies, opportunities for reflection, and meaningful conversations about how we can continue to support the wellbeing, growth, and success of every student in our care.

A big thank you to Mark for an inspiring and insightful day of professional learning.
