🌾 Family. Tradition. Legacy. 🌾

Long before Tweedvale was what it is today, it was just this, a family, a paddock full of cows, and two children tumbling around in the grass. 🐄

Carlo had no idea back then that all of this would one day be his to carry forward and his sister Gabriella would be working with him on their marketing - both helping shape the story we share with you today.

That's the thing about family businesses, they're never really built by one generation. They're handed down, added to, and carried forward, one pair of hands after another. 🤝

Here's to the ones who came before us, and the ones carrying it on. 💚

Here's a Kitchen Paradiso tip.
You can follow the recipe but the real secret ingredient is the taste test. 🥄

When cooking with his Nonna, Andrew would never serve it without her approval. Never trust a sauce until you've tasted it yourself, adjusting the salt, the acid, the balance, right up until the very last minute. No shortcuts, no guessing.

Our tip this week: taste as you go. Your palate is the best tool in the kitchen. 🍝

This is one of those beautiful family recipes that has been passed down through generations. It’s our Great Zia Maria's recipe, our Nonnas' sister's recipe and one that has always been loved by her children and grandchildren.

It’s still enjoyed regularly around the big family dinner table, just as it has been for years. Simple, rustic and traditionally Calabrian, Pasta Piselli is a wonderful example of how a handful of humble ingredients can make the most comforting meal.

Sweet peas simmered with tomato, onion, garlic and basil, tossed through pasta and finished with freshly grated Parmesan and a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil. 🇮🇹

It’s also a delicious way to incorporate plenty of peas into a pasta dish and one that the whole family will enjoy.

Some recipes aren't just recipes… they're memories around the table. ❤️

This week's recipe starts the way every great Italian dish does - with someone getting the onions just right. And trust us, Zia Marie knows how. 🍝

🎉 Thank you for 50 recipes with us! 🎉

Fifty recipes got us thinking... every family's got that family recipe. The one that's not written down anywhere, the one that shows up at special occasions or on the day we just need it.

What's that recipe in your family? Is it the one no one can get as right as 'Nonna's'?

Drop it in the comments. 👇
We want to hear about it. 🍝❤️

Meet Zia Marie, or Marietta to her family and friends, she is our Nonna's little sister, and to us... the gorgeous Zia Marie. 💫

This photo was taken on her wedding night, and honestly?
- the smile, the sparkle in her eyes, that corsage - she was serving elegance decades before us. 🌹

This week marks our 50th recipe on Kitchen Paradiso. Every dish we share carries a little bit of the women who taught us how to cook with love, patience, and a whole lot of flavour, and Zia Marie is a part of so many of those memories.

🍽️ This week, we're bringing you her recipe - straight from her kitchen to yours, but with a family twist. ✨

Grazie, Zia. This week's for you. Xx

Before the farm, before the new life, before four decades of Tweedvale Milk - there was just this: two young people, a bench in Italy, and a future they hadn't written yet.

Rita couldn't have known, sitting here, that she'd one day become a dairyfarmer, grandmother, award winner, business owner, engineer, operations manager, maintenance person, cleaner and onsite barista - and sometimes all before lunch! She just knew she wanted a life with Giulliano, wherever that led.

And it led here, to a second-hand pasteuriser, steep learning curves, long hours, a couple of literal fires to put out (Cuddle Creek fires came close), and eventually, a brand South Australians love.

None of it was planned in the way you plan a business. It grew out of two people willing to learn as they went, work hard, and build something together on values that never changed even as everything else did.

Rita has retired, but the dream that started long before Tweedvale Milk - a life, a partnership, a family is the legacy that remains.

Because that's really what this has always been about - a great partnership. Between Rita and Giulliano, yes, but also between great product and great food, between quality ingredients and the meals that bring a family together.

In Calabria, wild fennel is a true winter staple. Our Nonnas have always made the most of what nature provides, using every part of the plant—from the bulb to the fragrant fronds—to create simple, nourishing meals that warm both the body and the soul.

Here in South Australia, we're lucky that wild fennel grows abundantly, and the delicate fennel fronds are perfect for recipes like this. If you're out foraging, be sure you're confident you've correctly identified the plant. If not, the fennel from your local greengrocer works beautifully too.

This creamy fennel risotto is everything winter cooking should be—warm, wholesome and comforting, made with just a handful of everyday ingredients. It's a beautiful reminder that some of the most satisfying meals come from simple, seasonal produce.

We hope this recipe brings a little taste of a Calabrian winter to your table. 🌿💚
