One of the most rewarding experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic was to collaborate and co-design an online art and wellness program with Singapore Art Museum Sharon Chen Chia, leveraging on my expertise as a cognitive neuroscientist and meditation teacher. We understood that the public needed help to alleviate loneliness and disconnect (which is prevalent even without a pandemic). In the last months we worked to publish our framework and documented the programme so that others may learn, understand and adapt the thinking behind our design rationale that is greatly lacking in these kinds of art, wellness and mindfulness programs.

Hi! Russell here, I've been focused on performing scientific research on the benefits of meditation. In our recent work, we found that focused attention training increases such that was faster and overtime N2 electrophysiology was more dynamic. Read it for free here:
Focused-attention meditation increases cognitive control during motor sequence performance: Evidence from the N2 cortical evoked potential
Previous work found that single-session focused attention meditation (FAM) enhanced motor sequence learning through increased cognitive control as a mโฆ

Researchers at the University of South Australia (UniSA) invite healthy adults residing in Adelaide to participate in a study that aims to evaluate performance and brain function changes from cognitive training. Participants who complete the study will receive a $100 participant honorarium.
If you are interested or would like further information, please contact maarten.immink (AT) unisa.edu.au
Study Eligibility. We are seeking healthy right-handed adults aged 18 to 35 years. English must be your first language. Other eligibility criteria apply, contact the researchers for further information.
What is involved. Participation involves attending six laboratory sessions across two weeks, each 30 minutes to 2 hours long. In these sessions you will be playing a virtual reality video game as well as completing questionnaires, cognitive tasks and a cognitive training intervention. Non-invasive measurement of brain activity will be conducted with electroencephalography (EEG).
This project has been approved by the University of South Australia's Human Research Ethics Committee.
