SAPSASA News
Last Friday, our SAPSASA cross-country team travelled to Foxfield Oval, Athelstone, to compete in the Torrens River District trials.
A strong contingent of twenty-two athletes from East Torrens PS competed admirably against students from other schools in Torrens River.
Well done to all participants.
A particular shout-out to our four place-getters in Jasper (C21) in first place, Martina (C21); Ichika (M5) and Oliver (R13) who all gained second place and to Archie (M3) and Seb (C21) who both made the top six and gained a chance to compete at the State Cross-Country Carnival held at Oakbank later this term.

At East Torrens Primary School, we are passionate about engaging students in hands-on maths learning experiences. Our approach encourages students to explore mathematical concepts through games, activities, and real-life problem-solving, making learning both fun and meaningful. This practical, interactive approach is closely aligned with the South Australian Mathematics Curriculum, helping students build strong foundations in numeracy, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. At ETPS, we empower every learner to confidently apply their maths knowledge in everyday situations!

We’re excited to share the success of our Year 5/6 Community Clubs project at East Torrens Primary School! Our senior students worked in learning teams to design and lead their own clubs, teaching a range of skills to students across the school. From creativity in art and drama, to action-packed sports and strategic board games, every club was driven by student leadership and collaboration. We are so proud of how our Year 5/6 students stepped up, inspired their peers, and built a stronger school community through learning and fun!

At East Torrens Primary School, we have seven chickens and two guinea pigs housed in a secure enclosure within our nature play area. Having these animals on site brings many wellbeing benefits for students, including reduced stress, increased empathy, and a greater sense of responsibility. Caring for our chickens and guinea pigs encourages hands-on learning, promotes a calming environment, and helps students feel more connected, supported, and engaged at school.
