It's official—we have the best PE teacher in the country! Today, Richard Thom was given a special award recognising his outstanding contribution to the sport over many years. Mr Thom has inspired and supported East Torrens Primary School students to learn rugby and many other sports. Well done, Mr Thom! We are very proud of everything you do for East Torrens and for sport in general.

⚽️ What a fantastic season for our East Torrens Primary soccer teams! ⚽️

Our Under 7 and Under 9 teams have shown outstanding teamwork, enthusiasm and sportsmanship every week. They make every game fun and continue to be wonderful representatives for our school. We’re grateful for the dedicated parents who support the players each week—your encouragement is truly appreciated!

Special mention goes to our Under 11 team, coached by Archie’s dad Pete for the past four years. This group has become a tight-knit team, building strong friendships both on and off the field. This season, captain Seb led the way, with Archie, Ollie and Ru sharing vice-captain roles. The team enjoyed a fantastic season, finishing with 7 wins, 3 losses and 1 draw. Throughout, they demonstrated great teamwork, sportsmanship and support for one another.

Thank you to all players, parents and coaches for a wonderful season—East Torrens Primary is proud of you all!

What a fantastic day at East Torrens Primary School as we celebrated Book Week with our “Symphony of Stories” parade! Our students dazzled in their fabulous costumes, bringing so many beloved stories to life.
It was wonderful to see so many parents and family members joining us to enjoy the colourful, creative parade. Thank you for your ongoing support in making reading a cherished part of our school community.

Our students have been busy exploring some exciting hands-on science activities this week! They created a simple fire extinguisher; they also investigated the fascinating world of non-Newtonian fluids by making Oobleck and slime. Students designed and built rockets using recycled materials, then launched them using a mixture of vinegar and bicarbonate soda. A special Science themed incursion with Dr Quark explored some more scientific concepts in a fun and engaging way.

It was wonderful to see our young scientists asking questions, making predictions, and discovering science through play and experimentation!

This week, we were delighted to welcome visiting teachers from Taiwan to East Torrens Primary School! Our special guests observed classroom activities and teaching practices, gaining insight into how learning happens in Australian schools. It was a wonderful opportunity for both our staff and students to share ideas and connect across cultures. We value the chance to learn from each other and strengthen global partnerships.

Our IELP students enjoyed a wonderful day at Cleland Wildlife Park last week! 🌿🦘 Students had the opportunity to get up close with kangaroos, koalas and other unique Australian animals while learning about our native wildlife and natural environment.

It was a fantastic experience for everyone, with plenty of questions, smiles, and great memories made!

Last week many of our staff and students wore their pyjamas to school to raise much needed funds for The Pyjama Foundation, who support children in care by empowering them with learning opportunities and developing important life skills.

We were delighted to welcome Education Minister Lucy Hood to East Torrens Primary School today. Minister Hood was joined by Member for Hartley, Jenn Roberts, and SAPPA President Tobias O'Connor for a tour of our school and a valuable conversation with some of our Governing Council members.

A special thank you to our Year 6 student executives—Sarah, Andrey, Ichika, and Kyro—who did an outstanding job showcasing the wonderful learning and achievements at ETPS. We are so proud of our students and grateful for the opportunity to share all the great things happening at our school!
