🌟 Old Scholar Highlight 🌟
This week we are shining a spotlight on one of our Thomas More College Old Scholars, Hayley Frahm, who graduated in 2018 and has since built a rewarding career with South Australia Police
From serving the community as a response officer to embracing the opportunities and challenges that come with policing, her journey is a wonderful example of the many pathways available after school and the impact that can be made through a career in public service.
Read her story below and learn more about her experiences since graduating from Thomas More College.
"Graduating in 2018, I never imagined just how diverse and rewarding my career path would become. Since leaving school, I’ve built a career with South Australia Police (SAPOL), married my partner, and created a life that I’m incredibly proud of.
Policing is often described as challenging, and it truly is. But, it’s equally one of the most rewarding careers you can pursue. Every day is different, and no two shifts are ever the same. SAPOL offers a wide range of career pathways, from frontline response policing to specialist areas, meaning there are always opportunities to grow, develop new skills, and find your niche. It’s a career that values adaptability, resilience, and strong character, and it’s always looking for the right people who align with its core values and genuinely want to make a difference in the community.
In my current role as a response officer, I attend the scene of crime and disturbances after members of the public have called 000 or 131 444 for police attendance. These takings which can range from urgent emergencies to supporting people through some of the most difficult moments in their lives. It’s a role that requires quick thinking, compassion, and teamwork but it also gives you a real sense of purpose knowing you are helping others when they need it most.
Since graduating, I’ve not only established myself in a stable and meaningful career, but I’ve also enjoyed the flexibility and variety that policing provides. The job security, opportunities for progression, and ability to explore different areas within SAPOL make it a career that can evolve with you over time.
To current students considering their future, my advice is to keep an open mind and not be afraid to step outside your comfort zone. You don’t need to have everything figured out straight away. If you’re someone who wants a career that challenges you, pushes you to grow, and allows you to have a real impact on people’s lives, policing is definitely worth considering.
Looking back, I’m grateful for the journey so far and excited for what’s still to come."
