With 2 rounds left to play in the APL, the excitement is building towards a big finish as GOAT City continue their remarkable run, Real Aura Farming move up to 3rd and The Ronges Club, who haven't conceded a goal in 5 matches, remain 1 point from second position on the table. Today it was the Jordi show as he notched up a hat trick for the Pancakes in a 4-0 win over MTW. Real Aura Farming and Iceblock FC finished nil-nil despite multiple chances for both teams to score. Round 6 games will be played next week, with the talk of the town being the huge clash between Real Aura Farming and Athletico Big Mac Aura Farming being played on Friday. Dubbed 'The Aura Farming Cup' by the Back of the Net Podcast crew, there will be a special trophy presented to the winner in this derby for the ages!

APL - Round 5 update: After all of the excitement and drama of the APL Cup clashes last week, it was back to the League Competition today as the rain held off and two matches were completed. FC Sponge Monkey kicked off Round 5 with a close contest against The Ronges Club who were well and truly matching it with their higher ranked opponents. FCSM created a number of chances with Pascoe and Max showing great teamwork by providing their younger teammates Tommy and Louis with chances to score. The Ronges, with new recruits Max H and Ewan, had chances of their own to score but Erik B proved to be the hero for FCSM, making 2 brilliant saves to keep TRC at bay and keep the scoreline 0 - 0. Erik has been nominated for the golden Gloves award and should be super-proud of his work between the posts today! Game 2 had
top of the table GOAT City up against ABM Aura Farming who, thanks to Emmett and Arlo C, pushed the league leaders to their limits. Anyone who has watched the APL this season will know that GOAT City play a wonderful brand of passing and attacking football. Their teamwork has been a highlight of the competition so far, and cometh the moment, cometh the Marko - 2 late goals set up by Waleed and Callaway that helped take his tally to 8 goals in all competitions this year. The 2-nil win sees the GOATS take a commanding position in the race for the league title. A special mention must go out to Austin B who made 3 saves for ABMAF that had to be seen to be believed and ensuring his nomination for the Golden Gloves award!

A big week in the APL has seen round four completed with a stunning goal from left-footed maestro Zac U which saw the seriously unlucky Toe Wrestlers go down one - nil to the Real Aura Farmers. It was only an amazing save by Agnes B of Ella's on-target strike for MTW that kept them from a well-earned draw. Magic Marko was at his blistering best in the top of the table clash which saw his hat-trick take the GOATs clear of the pack on 10 points. With a wonderful goal added by Waleed, GOAT City countered an early goal from Iceblock FC's Taylor R to take the match 4 - 1, and to push Marko into the lead of the Golden Boot competition with 5 'sausage rolls'.
The first APL CUP game was won by I Am A Pancake Utd. thanks to a combined effort from Solly and Louis who squeezed a shot past the ABM Aura Farming keeper to run out 1 - 0 winners. Today we have scheduled the remaining three Cup games to see who will progress to the second round - let's hope the rain stays away!

Over the last term, a group of Year One boys have been working on a special recycling and paper-making project. They have organised scrap paper containers for each of the Broad Street classes, which they collect and empty every week. The scrap paper is soaked and turned into pulp using a hand blender before the group use a mold and deckle to make beautiful sheets of re-cycled paper. Two of the images shown here are magnified sheets captured by a digital microscope, highlighting the unique texture and make-up of the paper. The boys are now investigating how to use the recycled paper to make special notebooks and cards which we hope will be available on the TWYN trolley soon - stay tuned!
