WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY๐
Last week, the sun was shining for World Environment Day, providing a wonderful opportunity for students to be outdoors preparing winter crops in our raised garden beds.
Students in Year 1R harvested the last of the radishes, refreshed the garden beds, and planted snow peas outside their classroom, where they will be able to watch them grow. Our Creation Carers were also busy potting winter vegetable seeds โ including broccoli, kale and rocket - carefully preparing them to nurture and observe over the coming weeks. ๐ฑ
A great snapshot of hands-on learning and care for our environment at St Martinโs.

HAPPY WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY! ๐ฟ
World Environment Day is celebrated each year on 5 June and is one of the worldโs largest international days for the environment. This year, focuses on climate change: โ๐๐ป๐๐ฝ๐ถ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐ฏ๐ ๐ก๐ฎ๐๐๐ฟ๐ฒ. ๐๐ผ๐ฟ ๐๐น๐ถ๐บ๐ฎ๐๐ฒ. ๐๐ผ๐ฟ ๐ข๐๐ฟ ๐๐๐๐๐ฟ๐ฒ.โ It is a global day that encourages us to care for the Earth and work together to protect our shared home.
At St Martinโs, we acknowledge World Environment Day, and in the Catholic tradition, caring for the Earth is an essential part of our faith. Students will have the opportunity to continue to learn simple and practical ways to look after the environment, including understanding issues such as pollution and climate change, and taking small actions like saving water, reducing waste and planting trees.
Scripture reminds us, โThe earth is the Lordโs and all that is in itโ (Psalm 24:1). We are called to be stewards of Godโs creation, caring for the world and all living things, as Pope Francis reminds us in Laudato Siโ.

MOVE, BALANCE, SHINE!
Bouncing, balancing, cartwheeling, rolling, these are some of the skills and movements our Reception to Year 1 students at St Martin's have been undertaking with TriSkills Australia.
As part of their โBe Activeโ specialist PE lessons this term, students have participated in a Gymnastics in-school program focusing on developing fundamental movement skills through gymnastics-based activities.
Students have been having a great time embracing every twist and turn, at the same time developing their physical skills such as balance, coordination, strength and flexibility.

BRINGING MUSIC EDUCATION TO LIFE ๐ปโจ
What an incredible day of music-making at St Martinโs! Across four vibrant concerts, a talented string quartet, ๐ฃ๐ต๐ผ๐ฒ๐ป๐ถ๐
๐๐ผ๐น๐น๐ฒ๐ฐ๐๐ถ๐๐ฒ from Musica Viva Australia In Schools, filled the Hall with energy, creativity and inspiration - giving students a live music experience they wonโt soon forget.
More than just a performance, this incursion brought learning to life through interactive storytelling and dynamic playing. Students explored the connection between sport and music - discovering how both require practice, discipline, teamwork and mindfulness through the context of a music group. As they watched and listened, students were taken on a journey that highlighted what it truly means to work together to achieve a goal.
Ahead of the performances, students have been engaged with Musica Viva learning resources, exploring the instruments, traditions, and music featured, which has provided a deeper learning experience for students.
A huge thank you to the performers of โGame Day!โ for making music education so engaging, meaningful and unforgettable!

KICKING GOALS! ๐
Six of our Year 5 students have proudly represented our school at the SAPSASA Boys Australian Rules Football State Carnival over three eventful days!
After first attending a trial, these enthusiastic footy players were selected to play for the Adelaide North East District - an incredible achievement. Throughout the carnival, they demonstrated teamwork, determination and great sportsmanship on and off the field.
We are so proud of their efforts and the way they represented both their district and St Martinโs.
