In our Toddler Room, we are introducing visual routines to help children understand what is happening now and what comes next.

During group time, the children explored our visual routine posters and excitedly recognised familiar parts of their day, such as fruit time, nappy changes, sleep time, shoes and hats.

We also introduced our “First/Then” visual, supporting children to understand the sequence of experiences and transitions.

These simple visual cues help children build language, communication, independence and emotional regulation, while creating a sense of predictability and security throughout their day.

🦋💗 A Beautiful Book Week Moment! 💗🦋

Book Week brought so much creativity and imagination into our room! 📚✨

One of our talented little artists was inspired by her educator dressed as a beautiful pink butterfly 🦋💕. She carefully drew a picture of her educator, capturing the special moment through her own eyes and imagination.

It was wonderful to see how she used drawing to express her ideas, creativity and connection with her educator. 🎨💗

A beautiful reminder that children don't just experience special moments — they find their own ways to capture and celebrate them. 🌸✨

Happy Book Week! 📚🦋💕

Ever had one of those "What should I be doing with my child?" moments? You might already have the answer at home.

Earlier this year, every Goodstart family received a What & When for Families guide for each child. If it's been tucked away in a drawer since then, now might be the perfect time to pull it back out.

The guide is packed with simple, play-based activities that support your child's learning and development at home. Best of all, it's written in your child's voice, with ideas tailored to their age and developmental stage.

From singing songs with babies and playing peek-a-boo, to "I Spy" games, storytelling and treasure hunts with older children, the activities are designed to fit naturally into everyday moments you already share together.

We know learning doesn't only happen in the classroom. Those small moments at home can help build big communication, language and literacy skills.

Take another look through your What & When for Families guide to explore age-appropriate activities and learning ideas you can try together.

💛 Sometimes the best learning resource is the one you already have at home.

Our Kindy children were missing summer, so they decided to bring the beach to Kindy!

They transformed our dramatic play area into their very own beach, using imagination, creativity and teamwork. The best part? The children even remembered to bring their sunnies!

Through this experience, children developed their communication, social skills, creativity and imagination while sharing ideas, negotiating roles and creating their own beach adventures.

Strong relationships are the foundation for confident, curious learners 💛

Goodstart’s key educator approach ensures every child is known, supported and feels safe - through consistent, nurturing connections with educators and meaningful partnerships with families. These bonds help build wellbeing, resilience and a true sense of belonging from day one.

Last weekend, our Pre-Kindy and Kindy educators took part in Kimochis training.

Kimochis supports children to understand and express their emotions, build emotional vocabulary, develop self-regulation, solve problems and communicate respectfully.

Our educators are excited to bring these strategies into everyday learning, helping children feel safe, confident, connected and capable.

🍊 This week, we were excited to welcome Kudos back for our weekly food exploration activity! In a small group, the children explored oranges by looking at their texture, investigating the inside, and using their senses to touch, smell, and taste them.

The children then had the opportunity to make fresh orange juice, squeezing the oranges by hand and using a juicer before carefully pouring their juice into cups. This hands-on experience supported fine motor development and self-help skills while encouraging sensory exploration. The children shared their thoughts on the taste, describing it as either sweet or sour, and enjoyed it so much that many asked for a second helping! 🍊🥤😊

🥒🍞 Kudos Meal Support Program 🍞🥒

As part of our Flying Start Program, the children participated in our Kudos Meal Support Program. We started the experience with group time, some dancing, and a discussion about the activity rules before exploring different foods together.

This week, the children learned how to make cucumber and cream cheese sandwiches. Along the way, they explored the shapes of the bread and cucumber, as well as the taste, smell, and textures of all the ingredients. It was a wonderful sensory learning experience, and the children thoroughly enjoyed being involved in the preparation process.

We can't wait to see what delicious creation we'll make next week! 😊✨
