Jess has been working with the MLT through the Pathways to Community-Led Language Work Project to develop her skills in language revival, language maintenance and producing language resources.

Jess is a Yankunytjatjara woman, that had the opportunity to host and produce Nganampa Wangka, a radio show that discusses Aboriginal languages and music.

For young Aṉangu, projects like these help explore different pathways in relation to language and culture.

Haymish is a young Kokatha man, that has been working with the MLT through the traineeship program, focusing on language and animation.

As apart of his traineeship, Haymish has taken 3 storybooks from the Yankunytjatjara Book series and turned them into short animated videos.

Digital projects like this give young people the chance to develop lots of different skills in their chosen field and explore ways language can be used resources and digital media.

Josh has been working with the MLT through the Pathways to Community-Led Language Work project to explore his Yankunytjatjara language through street art and graffiti artwork.

Growing up back and forth between Adelaide and the APY Lands, Josh has used his traineeship to look at ways to use his talent for graffiti and street art and combine it with his Yankunytjatjara language.

Projects like this give young Aṉangu the chance to explore different ways their language can be experienced and expressed in the community and the wider public.

🦷✨ Kaṯiṯi Wiṟu is here! ✨🦷

Recently, the Kaṯiṯi Wiṟu oral hygiene awareness campaign was launched across the APY Lands as part of a Closing the Gap pilot program aimed at promoting Aboriginal language use and improving oral health outcomes.

Launching in the Indulkana and Mimili communities, with partners Nganampa Health Council, the Dental Hygienists Association of Australia, and Iwantja Arts this campaign delivers oral hygiene resources in Yankunytjatjara language to communities across the APY Lands, building awareness and action on Oral Hygiene amongst Aboriginal communities.

Together, we're sharing culturally relevant oral hygiene resources and encouraging healthy smiles in our communities. 🪥💬
