At Sunrise Christian School Paradise, you'll find more than a school communityβ€”you'll find people who care, who listen, and who are ready to walk the journey with you. ✨

Our Chaplaincy and Wellbeing Programs provide a caring, confidential space where families feel listened to, encouraged, and supported. Whether you're navigating friendships, big emotions, family changes, or simply the everyday ups and downs of parenting, you don't have to do it alone.

Our Chaplain actively engages with students through group sessions and one-on-one support, helping them work through friendships, emotions, challenges, and daily experiences. Through meaningful conversations, engaging activities, and a consistent, caring presence, students are supported in a safe and nurturing environment where they feel heard, valued, and cared for.

Support extends beyond the classroom. Parents are invited to join our parent group, a welcoming space to connect with others, discuss relevant topics, share experiences, build friendships, and receive both prayer and practical support throughout the parenting journey.

Together with our Chaplain and the support of our caring Christian community, we partner with parents to nurture the hearts and minds of our students. πŸ’›

This term, the Kindy children at Sunrise Marion ELC have been learning Japanese colour names through a variety of engaging activities, including songs, pictures, and crafts. 🍑 ✨

They have been practising colours like Orenji (orange), Murasaki (purple), Midori (green), Pinku (pink), Kiiro (yellow), and Aka (red).

In this week's Japanese lesson, the children were introduced to Dango, a delightful traditional Japanese sweet consisting of small balls on a stick.

The children participated in a fun craft activity, creating unique Dango with colourful emoji faces. Using cotton balls, glue, and craft sticks, they cut out their favourite emojis, glued them onto the cotton balls, and assembled their creations on the sticks. βœ‚οΈ πŸ–οΈ

It was such a fun learning experience for our little learners! πŸ’›πŸ’™

At Sunrise Paradise ELC, our students were filled with wonder and excitement as they met a variety of fascinating animals, from quokkas to pythons, thanks to a special visit from Animals Anonymous. 🐍

This hands-on experience provided a unique opportunity for children to learn about animals up close, sparking curiosity, awe, and a deeper appreciation for the amazing world around them.

Experiences like these are incredibly valuable for young learners. By seeing, touching, and interacting with the animals, children engage their senses, ask questions, build confidence, and develop a stronger understanding of the natural world. Learning through real-life experiences helps make new knowledge meaningful, memorable, and exciting.

We are so grateful for opportunities like this that enrich our curriculum, inspire a love of learning, and encourage our students to explore and discover God's wonderful creation. πŸ’›βœ¨

The Grade 4 students from Sunrise Morphett Vale and Marion had an incredible adventure with the Beyond Limits team at Adare Camp! From engaging in tribal games to enjoying beach activities, every moment was truly special. πŸ•οΈβœ¨

Activities at Adare House focused on collaborative learning and teamwork, offering students the chance to solve a range of puzzles.

The students took part in activities such as the flying kiwi, shelter building, water obstacle courses, beach games, the survivor challenge, and the beyond limits relay. They also participated in fun events such as the Granite Island Walk, a sand sculpture competition, and a lively Red Faces Concert that brought plenty of laughter.

Each day wrapped up with a peaceful night walk and movie night. Everyone left feeling thankful for the unforgettable experiences and friendships formed.

At Sunrise, we love providing opportunities that make learning meaningful, exciting, and memorable for every child. The best part is that camps are included in school fees, making them accessible to all students. πŸ’›πŸ’™

Students in Grade 1 at Sunrise Christian School in Fullarton had an incredible day filled with learning and baking delicious German Honey Biscuits. πŸ‘©πŸ½β€πŸ³πŸ§‘πŸ»β€πŸ³

Mrs Rijken taught them about family recipes, and students had the chance to create her grandmother's cherished family recipe. They even worked on creating their own family recipe books and delved into discussions about various cultures and shared family experiences in class.

The day was a fantastic blend of fun and education, focusing on good hygiene practices and the art of biscuit-making, with help from our wonderful parent volunteers and dedicated teachers.

Through this experience, the children learned about the significance of family traditions, particularly how much they revolve around food, and the joy in sharing them.

At Sunrise, we are passionate about creating meaningful, hands-on learning opportunities like this across all of our schools. We regularly connect classroom learning to real life, helping students build practical skills and deepen their understanding.

While the biscuits were baking, the students engaged in additional learning activities before returning to decorate and ice their creations. Of course, they couldn't resist sneaking a few licks of the icing sugar and sprinkles along the way! πŸ’›πŸ’™

It was a delightful day filled with lasting memories, ending with the students sharing their tasty treats with parents, grandparents, and siblings. ✨

Students from Sunrise Fullarton, Paradise, Morphett Vale and Marion participated in the SACSA Primary Soccer Carnival held at Barratt Reserve last Thursday and Friday. 🌊⚽

On the first day, our Grade 3/4 students took to the field, followed by our Grade 5/6 students on day 2. Each team played with incredible spirit and determination!

Throughout both days, our students showcased outstanding sportsmanship, enthusiastically cheering one another on while giving it their all on the field and from the sidelines alike.

A core principle of SACSA is to nurture a sense of unity, cooperation, and friendship in a positive and structured environment, and we witness this unfold at every sports event. πŸ’™πŸ’›

We are excited to share that our Early Learning Centre at Fullarton has been selected as a partner service to deliver the South Australian Government's new 3-year-old preschool program, commencing from January 2027.

Flying Start for Kids is an initiative of the government's broader investment in quality early childhood education, aiming to provide more children with access to teacher-led, play-based learning during the critical years before school.

A quality preschool for 3-year-olds provides a safe and welcoming environment where children can explore, learn, and grow through play-based activities. It helps children develop their social, emotional, language, and motor skills while encouraging creativity and curiosity.

What will change with the introduction of the 3-year-old preschool program?
Children will continue to enjoy rich, play-based learning experiences, with a qualified teacher present in the room to support their development further. This investment also provides teachers with more time for planning, access to professional development, and additional support, ultimately enhancing the quality of education across all services.

πŸ₯πŸ‡―πŸ‡΅ What an incredible experience for our students at Sunrise Marion!

Today, our Grade 3, Grade 5 and Grade 6 students took part in an exciting Taiko drumming workshop led by special guest teacher Kiyomi, who travelled from Sydney to Adelaide to share the art of traditional Japanese drumming with our students.

Students had the opportunity to:
✨ Learn the history and cultural significance of Taiko
✨ Explore correct posture, hand gestures and performance techniques
✨ Discover the discipline, teamwork and respect involved in Japanese drumming
✨ Experience the joy of creating music together through rhythm and movement

Incursions like these play an important role in enriching learning beyond the classroom. They help students develop cultural understanding, confidence, creativity and appreciation for the world around them through hands-on experiences they will always remember. πŸŒπŸ’«

At Sunrise, we love providing engaging opportunities that make learning meaningful, exciting and memorable for every child, and the best part is that many of these valuable incursions are included in school fees, making them accessible to all students.
