Happy National Donut Day! 🍩
To celebrate, our children enjoyed a delicious and healthy afternoon tea of homemade Banana (bread) Donuts! 🍌✨
Made with wholesome ingredients with our receipe from My Wholefood Hub, these tasty treats were the perfect way to mark the occasion while encouraging healthy eating habits. The children were excited to try their special donuts and there were plenty of smiles as they enjoyed every bite.
At Nido Salisbury Downs, we love finding fun ways to celebrate special occasions while also promoting healthy eating and a positive relationship with food

During National Reconciliation Week, our Kinders explored how symbols can share meaning and tell stories. Inspired by Aboriginal symbols, the children created their own stories through painting, using symbols to express ideas, imagination, and storytelling.
This learning reflects an important part of our service philosophy: "We are deeply committed to cultural diversity and inclusion, recognising and celebrating the rich backgrounds of our children, families, and community. We believe that exposure to diverse perspectives helps children build empathy, respect, and a sense of global citizenship from an early age."
We acknowledge the Kaurna people as the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we learn and play and pay our respects to Elders past, present, and emerging.
We are committed to creating environments where children feel connected to culture, community and the world around them, fostering curiosity, respect and a sense of belonging.

Yesterday we welcomed the wonderful Emily from Animals Anonymous for an exciting and interactive animal incursion!
The children were captivated as they learned about and met a range of incredible animals, including:
✨ Kermit the Tawny Frogmouth Owl
✨ Stumpy the Stimpson’s Python
✨ Winston the Quokka
✨ Crunch the Saltwater Crocodile
✨ Lenny the Spencer’s Goanna
✨ Tilly the Squirrel Glider
✨ Lois the Coastal Carpet Python
Each child engaged with the experience in their own unique way, some eagerly patting and interacting with the animals, while others preferred to observe from a comfortable distance and take it all in.
One of the highlights of the day was when Stacey volunteered to help demonstrate Tilly the Squirrel Glider’s amazing abilities, watching as Tilly launched from her shoulder and glided through the air for the children to see! Another exciting moment was seeing some of our brave children and educators confidently hold Lois the Coastal Carpet Python.
This experience held a particularly special connection for our Kinder 1 children, supporting and extending their current inquiry project exploring native Australian animals. Through real-life encounters and hands-on learning, the children were able to deepen their knowledge and develop a greater understanding of the unique animals that share our environment.
At Nido, we value creating meaningful learning experiences that bring children’s inquiries to life and inspire curiosity, wonder and respect for the natural world.
A huge thank you to Emily and Animals Anonymous for sharing such a memorable and educational experience with us!

💬 “So silly!” – Eli
💬 “It’s so yummy!” – Brodie

Today, our Flying Start Preschoolers participated in a meaningful Body Safety Workshop with Cindy through Body Safety Australia. Through stories, discussions, and interactive activities, Cindy supported the children in exploring different emotions, what those feelings can mean, and healthy ways to express and manage them.
Children also learned important body safety messages, including that their bodies belong to them, the importance of personal boundaries, and understanding safe touch. Cindy encouraged the children to use their voices, trust their feelings, and seek support from trusted adults if they ever feel uncomfortable or unsafe.
They thoroughly enjoyed the workshop and were actively involved throughout, sharing ideas, discussing emotions, and expressing themselves through different facial expressions and activities. Experiences like these help build children’s confidence, emotional awareness, and understanding of personal safety in an age-appropriate and empowering way

Our Piazza Library is becoming such a special space within our service 📚✨
Children across all age groups can come together during family grouping times or after meals to sit, relax, and enjoy stories together.
It’s a beautiful opportunity for older children to support younger friends, build connections across the service, and foster a shared love of reading in a calm and welcoming environment.
