Our Year 1/2 students enjoyed an exciting day at Gorge Wildlife Park as part of their Science learning about living things, their features and the environments in which they live. π’
Students had the opportunity to get up close to a variety of amazing animals including snakes, camels, kangaroos and tortoises. Through hands-on experiences and observations, they deepened their understanding of how animals are uniquely adapted to survive and thrive in different habitats. π¦
A big thank you to the staff and volunteers who helped make this wonderful learning experience possible! π¨

As part of Biological Science Learning in our Reception classes, we recently hosted the Henny Penny Chicken Program. Students watched eggs in the incubator hatch into beautiful baby chicks!π£
This hands-on experience helped our Receptions explore how living things grow and change, while encouraging curiosity, observation and wonder about the natural world. Our students (and staff) loved patting and caring for our little chicks as they hatched.
Watch this space for when they return to us fully-grown in our future chicken coop. In the meantime, Mr Matthews is carefully raising them. π₯π₯

Our youngest learners, the Shining Stars, enjoyed a nature walk around our beautiful school grounds this week. πΏβ¨
We are so blessed at SFOA to have extensive grounds filled with opportunities for nature play and discovery. During their walk, students explored the environment around them by smelling herbs and flowers in the garden, discovering different plants, climbing, investigating and engaging their senses in the natural world.
It was a joy to see their curiosity, wonder, and excitement as they connected with nature through hands-on exploration. π±π

π Shout Out to Our P&F! π
A huge thank you to our incredible Parents & Friends group for fundraising to purchase our new professional school marquee! π
This week it truly proved its worth, keeping our soccer players dry during break times β what a fantastic addition to our school! β½β
We are so grateful to our wonderful community for continually supporting our P&F initiatives. Every dollar raised goes straight back into meaningful purchases like this that benefit our students.

π Introducing Tania Willsdonπ
We are delighted to introduce Tania Willsdon, who will be joining our school community as our new Mid-Year Reception Teacher.
Tania joins us from Our Lady of Hope School in Greenwith, where she has spent more than a decade teaching in Early Years and Reception settings. She brings a wealth of experience, strong knowledge of early childhood education, and a genuine passion for supporting young learners as they begin their schooling journey.
Tania spent today with her students as part of our transition program, getting to know the children and beginning to build the positive relationships that are so important for a successful start to school.
Tania is excited about joining the SFOA community and is looking forward to getting to know our students, families and staff.
Please join us in giving Tania a warm SFOA welcome! π

This weekend we celebrated the First Holy Communion and Confirmation of 38 students from our school and parish. We were fortunate to have Archbishop Patrick O'Regan celebrate these sacraments with our young ones. They have spent a year preparing for this special moment in their faith journey and we are incredibly proud of them! πβ€οΈ
