A huge thank you to Kathy’s WRSA team (from Kathy) who worked hard all weekend to keep event bins clean and uncontaminated - mainly plasticised baby wipes extraction on repeat…
We love the thanks from community and from vendors who appreciate our education and service.
Thank you vendors you were lovely and very much on board with separating materials πŸ™‚πŸ‘β€οΈ
Thank you Adelaide International Kite Festival you ran a fantastic event! We feel very valued by you and love your commitment to achieving these fantastic results. πŸ™‚πŸ™πŸ‘β€οΈ

Day 4 of the marathon!
We sort and educate at the bin banks so clean organics capture is the largest volume.
Skips are all 3 cubic metres and we have nearly filled the 3 organics, cardboard is full and waste about a third full so far 😎

It’s (nearly) all for the green bin at the Adelaide International Kite Festival
Last night at the beautiful twilight market we were reminded at every step of the simplicity of β€œat the bin” education for food and drink waste disposal. So very much simpler now. πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘ SA’s rolled out single use plastic bans πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Today it’s perfect weather for kites in the air!

City of Marion 2026 Concert at the Cove waste management had it's challenges (needed more green bins) but we pivoted and found solutions to accommodate the huge amount of clean organics collected. Loads of children eating ice-cream = lots of plasticised wipes to remove from food and drink containers so they can be captured for commercial composting. We worked hard and people appreciated it! 😊
9 x 240L bins of organics (had to use some yellow bins to store as well as green but they will be emptied as organics)
0.75 x 240L comingled recycling
4 x 240L 10 cent drink containers (Lions Club took these πŸ‘)
1.8 x 240L landfill
We weighed off bins in the dark to get weight and volume diversion results, achieving 85% diversion from landfill by weight and 91% by volume.
Kath and Jodz are tired little bunnies today!

Waste Reduction SA is ready to step up!
Over the last 8 years, the team have worked across South Australia delivering:
β€’ Kerbside bin audits
β€’ Medical and commercial waste audits
β€’ Food diversion programs for businesses
β€’ Large-scale council operations waste management reviews and
β€’ Event waste management for events of all sizes.
South Australia’s single use plastic bans aren’t just about less plastic in landfill – they simplify and increase the volume of organics for recovery at any community event.
To achieve real behaviour change and clean materials in all waste streams we educate and actively manage bin materials at the bin banks. This methodology has won a National Award for Sturt Football Club.
So here’s the challenge: What’s your next event or waste project? What’s your budget? Let WRSA give you a reasonable cost, an efficient team, and outcomes you can stand behind.
Get in touch today – let’s work together to support your community.
