These spaces are aimed at children directing their own play, for their own reasons.

Victoria University EC students completing a placement provide a variety of loose parts and support Pop-Up play spaces in various communities throughout Australia.

Another day in Adelaide. So many amazing people asking about our projects and appreciating what we do. It is humbling. One of the mentors dressed me up with loose parts. Is there a better way to spend a day than immersed in play and advocating for children's rights? Oh,and I got to pat a dog whose name was Frankie...the best

In Adelaide today it was all about The Crib.

Searching and sourcing loose parts that were needed, problem solving, creating and imagining, this creation came to life.

This week we've been in Perth spreading the importance of play through the lens of Playwork.

Tomorrow we run Pop-Ups in Adelaide before heading home to Melbourne next week.

This work is so important as we hold a space for children to play.

Adelaide, it is always a blast running Pop-Ups over here. Today was super hot and we had students seeking shelter under what else but loose parts

One of the many layers of the VUPlay projects is for children to be seen in public spaces, and not just seen, but empowered to make decisions and be heard. This is powerful.

4 children entered the play space, after "spying * on us from the bushes for about 5 minutes.

After this they all ran into the play space, explored the loose parts and then set on wrapping boxes in sring, wool and rope. Their play continued for 2 hours, where the play frame extended way beyond the Pop-Up, to include the playground and other environmental factors, such as, trees, borders of new trees and other loose parts.

As the flow of play continued, we see deep involvement in the space, the inclusion of other children, who moved in and out of the play cycle.

This filled my Playwork heart with joy. These children had time, space and an environment ready for play. Their adults stood back and revelled in what was happening, not adulterating the space, but laughing and talking amongst themselves about what was evolving.

It was a joy and a privilege to see.
