Gowrie SA

Gowrie SA The Lady Gowrie Child Centre (Adelaide) was established in 1940 as a demonstration and model child centre.

Gowrie SA has led the way since 1940 providing community-based innovative child care and kindergarten in Thebarton and Underdale, as well as professional learning and inclusion support for educators across the early childhood sector Now known as Gowrie SA, we remain committed to innovation in children's services. Our vision is for early childhood to reach its potential

Gowrie SA is a dynamic, com

munity based organisation leading the development of innovative and responsive services for children and families and building leadership capacity in the wider community

We provide child care and kindergarten programs with an emphasis on wellbeing, partnerships and developing a community of learners for children, families and educators. Through our training, resource and advisory programs we use our practical experience to assist children's services to achieve continuous improvement. We demonstrate and encourage reflective and research-based practice, and assist staff to gain skills and qualifications. In all aspects of work we seek to establish professional partnerships with organisations in the broader community.

A big thank you to Immanuel College ELC for taking part in the Circle of Security 8-Chapter Classroom approach training. It was a valuable opportunity to reflect on practice, deepen understanding of children’s emotional needs, and explore practical ways to support secure relationships. I truly appreciated everyone’s openness, participation and willingness to learn together.
Educator Reflection… “Shark Music really helped me recognise when my own feelings can affect how I respond to children, and reminded me to pause and think about what they actually need.”

They say team work makes the dream work, but what does this look like in practice?

Our Professional Learning Facilitators have been busy with supporting teams & leaders to strengthen the mindsets and practical skills that make a real difference, including building a healthy feedback culture, communicating effectively, being respectfully assertive, working through conflict and keeping teams connected to their shared purpose.

These sessions have been a great opportunity for leaders & educators to rethink, reflect & review their practice & policies.

Thank you to Torrens Valley Children's Centre & Little Seedlings Academy for having us out as part of larger team discussions!

Incredible day of learning with Nik&Co. Consultancy and ActNow Theatre at Yitpi Yartapuultiku with Deadly Mob.
Learning about Australia's past policies and their ongoing impact, how to be an ally and how to counter and call out racism.

Thank you for guiding our work and providing such thought provoking sessions which have built our knowledge and advocacy skills for lasting impact.

We are grateful for the opportunity to learn together on Kaurna Yarta. Big shout out to Katherine at Australian Wattlebush Catering for the wonderful food.
