Together we raised $85 for The Pyjama Foundation

🦒🦒Yesterday we had a visit from our good friend Healthy Harold! The children had the opportunity to learn about the many different feelings we experience every day, including happiness, sadness, tiredness, anxiety, and anger.

Harold shared a story that helped the children understand these emotions and introduced simple, positive strategies for managing them. Together, we discussed the importance of sharing and explored ways to solve problems, such as taking turns or using our words when we both want the same toy.

The children also sang a fun song about emotions and using actions to express each feeling. We stomped our feet to show anger, clapped our hands to show happiness, and acted out other emotions throughout the song.

We also played games that encouraged teamwork and taking turns. One game involved passing a ball to the next person around the group. Another was the cup stacking game, where we took turns stacking cups as quickly and carefully as possible. If the cups fell over, we had to start again, making the game both fun and challenging while also talking about our feelings.

It was a fun, engaging, and meaningful learning experience that encouraged the children to build their emotional awareness, communication, and problem-solving skills. We can't wait to welcome Healthy Harold back again soon!🦒🦒

Pyjama Day is here!

We have decided to celebrate for the whole week so that all children can be involved!

At the Sign In Tablet in the front foyer there is a little pot for gold coin donations to rasie money for children in foster care.

We look forward to seeing all the pyjamas and having some fun!

Koala & Kangaroo Room Excursion – Glover North Playground

Today, the Koala and Kangaroo Rooms enjoyed an exciting excursion to Glover North Playground in North Adelaide. All 22 children attended, making it a wonderful day filled with adventure, exploration and shared learning.

At 9:00 am, we boarded the bus, and for many children, the bus ride itself was one of the highlights of the excursion. Along the journey, the children eagerly pointed out large trucks, police cars, McDonald's, big houses, and many other interesting sights. They excitedly shared their observations with educators and friends, showing great curiosity about the world around them.

Once we arrived at Glover North Playground, the children couldn't wait to explore. They spent the morning climbing the playground equipment, swinging, spinning, running down the grassy hills, digging in the sandpit, balancing, and engaging in imaginative play with their peers. The playground provided endless opportunities to build confidence, develop gross motor skills, solve problems and strengthen friendships through cooperative play.

While we managed to capture a few special moments, the photos simply don't do the day justice! Our priority was supervising, supporting and engaging with the children, allowing them to safely enjoy every moment of their adventure rather than stopping to take photos.

We are incredibly proud of all 22 children for making today's excursion such a positive and memorable experience. Their enthusiasm, kindness, teamwork and curiosity made it a fantastic day for everyone involved. We look forward to many more adventures together!

Today some of our Kangaroo children planted some winter veggies in our community garden 😍 🥦

They headed to the garden to plant broccoli, cauliflower, and cabbage seedlings. The children helped dig small holes, gently placed each seedling into the soil, covered the roots, and gave the plants a drink of water. Through this hands-on experience, the children learned about caring for living things and the importance of providing plants with water, soil, and sunshine to help them grow.

We are excited to watch our vegetables grow big and strong over the coming weeks and can't wait to harvest and enjoy eating them together! We will keep you posted ☺️

Some of yesterday and today's NAIDOC Week activities from across the Centre 🥰🖤❤️💛

Yesterday our Koala and Kangaroo children enjoyed a wonderful day of outdoor learning as we took advantage of the beautiful weather. Our experiences were inspired by NAIDOC Week, celebrating this year's theme while providing opportunities for children to connect with nature, culture, and imaginative play.

The children explored Aboriginal symbols, learning that symbols are a traditional way of sharing stories, places, and important ideas. Using natural materials, they created their own artworks, encouraging creativity, fine motor development, and an appreciation of Australia's First Nations cultures. Through this experience, the children were invited to respect and value Aboriginal ways of knowing, being, and doing.

As part of our NAIDOC Week celebrations, Mr Martin also facilitated a mud play experience. Mud has long been a natural resource used by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in daily life, art, and connection with Country. The children delighted in mixing, scooping, pouring, and creating with the mud while working together to make imaginative creations. This sensory experience supported cooperation, communication, problem-solving, and creativity, while strengthening hand and arm muscles. Most importantly, it encouraged children to explore the natural environment with curiosity and respect, fostering a meaningful connection with the land.
