Apprentice spotlight 👏

Lucy Taylor is building a strong foundation as an Automotive Refinishing Technician apprentice, with her host employer, Autocraft Collision Repairs, sharing extremely positive feedback on her performance. Her confidence and capability continue to grow, a fantastic example of women thriving in trades.

Lucy has her sights set firmly on the future, sharing that she hopes to one day own her own custom paint shop.

Some snapshots from a recent Try-A-Trade session held at St Patrick’s Technical College. on Tuesday. 🔧

Students from various schools across metro Adelaide took part in a hands-on 3-hour workshop, gaining practical insight into the automotive industry.

Activities included:
• Harley-Davidson cylinder head pull-down and reassembly
• Parts identification
• Colour match activity
• Pit stop tyre change challenge

A total of 18 students from Years 9-11 got involved, bringing great energy and enthusiasm to the session.

Join the Automotive Try-A-Trade Program at the MTA Training & Employment Centre and get hands-on exposure across a range of exciting trades.

What you’ll experience:
• Site tour and insights into the automotive industry
• Intro to auto activity across a range of different trades such as light vehicle, heavy vehicle, auto electrical, spray painting, and panel beating
• Information regarding automotive careers
• A light lunch will be provided
• Interaction and first hand experience with leading trainers and employers

This is a FREE opportunity designed for school students to explore career pathways in the automotive industry.

Location: MTA Training and Employment Centre, 3 Frederick Rd, Royal Park SA 5014.

On Friday night we welcomed over 600 to our largest-ever Graduation and Awards at Adelaide Oval celebrating nearly 200 graduates!

🏆 A massive congratulations to Ethan Lockwood hosted at RMB Service Group, crowned the 2026 MTA Apprentice of the Year! Ethan represents the pinnacle of dedication and skill in our trade.

🧑‍🔧 We also officially announced the inaugural nine MTA Apprentice Ambassadors - a first-of-its-kind initiative giving apprentices a direct voice in the future of industry training.

Congratulations to all award winner and graduates!

Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate – our apprentices, employers, trainers, sponsors and special guests. The energy in the room was electric, and the future of the industry has never looked brighter!
