A group of Year 10 students had the opportunity to attend this yearโ€™s Active Citizenship Convention held at Adelaide Oval ๐ŸŸ๏ธ.

Joining students from across South Australia, they explored democracy, active citizenship and the importance of having a voice.๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ

๐Ÿค๐Ÿป Students took part in engaging activities and discussions around democracy, civic participation, youth voice and decision-making.

๐ŸŒŸ A highlight of the day was meeting the Minister for Education Lucy Hood MP and hearing about the important role young people play in shaping our future. It was a great opportunity for students to share their perspectives, ask questions and learn more about how their voices can help influence positive change in our community.๐ŸŒŸ

This amazing new vehicle will provide our students with greater opportunities to participate in learning, excursions and experiences beyond the school grounds.

It will support our Inclusive Education Centre community for many years to come.

This week we are celebrating Book Week, with this yearโ€™s theme: โœจ Symphony of Stories โœจ

Books bring together characters, adventures, imagination and ideas. Each story adds its own unique note to the wonderful symphony of reading.๐ŸŽต๐Ÿ“–

Tomorrow students are invited to come dressed as their favourite book character. ๐ŸŒŸ๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿ‰

A few reminders:
๐Ÿ“– Costumes can be simple or creative.
๐Ÿ“– Please make sure outfits are safe and comfortable for a school day.
๐Ÿ“– Students must be dressed in a Book Week costume or in school uniform. This is not a casual clothes day.

Today is the last day to see our 2026 SALA Festival Art Exhibition.

Located in the Hopgood Theatre foyer, the exhibition features a vibrant collection of artworks by our Year 8โ€“10 students, inspired by the theme โ€œImagine That!โ€ โœจ

Throughout the creative process, students explored a range of media and techniques, drawing inspiration from their environments, cultural perspectives, personal experiences, and the work of contemporary artists. The exhibition includes imaginative landscapes, striking sculptural works, and creative pieces that encourage viewers to see the world in new and unexpected ways.

Year 8 Digital Technologies students have been exploring algorithms, using clear, precise, step-by-step instructions to tell a computer what to do. ๐Ÿ–ฅ๏ธ

๐Ÿ‘ท๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธStudents designed and built their own 3D maze challenges, using commands such as move forward, turn left, turn right and stop. They then tested their instructions, identifying errors and refining their designs through debugging.

Throughout the project, students developed skills in:

๐ŸŒŸAlgorithm design
๐ŸŒŸSequencing and logical thinking
๐ŸŒŸProgramming concepts
๐ŸŒŸDebugging and problem-solving
๐ŸŒŸCreativity and design

It was fantastic to see students learning through collaboration, experimentation and play, while demonstrating creativity, teamwork and perseverance.๐Ÿ”จ

Congratulations to the team of students and teaching staff who performed The Power of One at the Norwood Concert Hall last week as part of Wakakirri 2026.

Our students demonstrated outstanding dedication, creativity and enthusiasm both on and off the stage, bringing to life a powerful story about the positive impact that caring for our environment can have on ourselves, our community and the world around us. ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ’š

Their remarkable performance was recognised by Wakakirri Ambassador Kurt Benton:

"A powerful, strong yet fun celebration of healing our planet. The use of group dance with solo acting was meaningful and engaging, everyone had great moments to shine and great use of a large set and many props overall. The piece was well thought out and was an awesome and impactful way to start the show!"
