Three OLSH College students have achieved an outstanding result in this year’s Young Archies Portrait Competition. 🎨 With 4,350 entries from young artists across Australia, all three students who entered through cocurricular Art Club (Term 1) had their works shortlisted, placing them among the top 8% of submissions. 👏👏👏

Congratulations ✨ Simranjit (Year 10) ✨ Namita (Year 10) ✨ Xuany (Year 12)

Each artist chose to create a portrait of a significant woman in her life — her mother.

Simranjit’s portrait honours her cultural heritage through the depiction of her mother in traditional dress. Namita’s thoughtful drawing captures the strength of her mother, while Xuany’s acrylic painting portrays her mother moments before skydiving, capturing a powerful sense of anticipation and determination.

These personal works reflect the care, creativity and individual stories that sit at the heart of portraiture.

We’re looking forward to welcoming students and families to the OLSH College Subject & Careers Expo this evening, and there's a lot happening!

🎯 SUBJECT EXPO: As students begin making decisions about their subjects and future pathways, tonight provides an opportunity for parents and caregivers to explore options alongside them, speak directly with teachers, ask questions, and gather information to support informed decisions.

💼 CAREERS EXPO features a range of universities, tertiary education providers and industry representatives, giving families the opportunity to explore post-school pathways and learn more about future study and career options.

🗨 Families of current Year 9, 10 and 11 students are also encouraged to attend their SACE Information Session. These year-level specific information sessions are designed to help families understand the pathways available through the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE), stay informed about key requirements and changes, and feel well equipped to support their daughter as she plans her next steps with confidence and clarity.

Energy in action⚡From water wheels and rubber-band vehicles to solar ovens and chain-reaction machines, Year 8 girls have been busy testing ideas, solving problems and refining designs in Science this term.

Working in teams, the girls designed and built their own models, using trial and error to improve performance and overcome challenges along the way.

Their investigations also extended beyond the classroom, with the girls considering how energy is produced, used and managed in a world increasingly focused on sustainability 🌏.

Two nights, full packs, and the coastline of Innes National Park 🌿 Our Year 10 Outdoor Education girls recently completed a two-night bushwalk, carrying all their own equipment and taking responsibility for each part of the journey — planning meals, cooking, setting up camp, and managing daily routines together.

This experience asked students to draw on their preparation in a practical way. Along the track, they navigated challenges, supported one another, and worked collaboratively to keep the group organised and moving forward.

There were also moments to pause and take in the experience — watching the sunrise on the beach, spending time around the campfire, and exploring the natural environment they had travelled through.

Every step counts, especially when it's taken for others. 💕 Elizabeta (Year 11) is once again taking part in the 56km Challenge to Step Up to Breast Cancer, raising funds to support the important work of the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

After raising almost $400 last year, Elizabeta has set herself a new goal of $500 in 2026. 💞 Her commitment to a cause that supports those affected by breast cancer reflects the spirit of the OLSH Pillar of Education, Touch the Hearts of Others, in a meaningful and authentic way.

During Refugee Week (14-20 June), Year 7 Vietnamese students spent time with the bilingual story Fly High! Fly Far! by Ly Luan Le. 🇻🇳 ❤ 🇦🇺 As the girls followed Việt’s journey from Vietnam to South Australia, it sparked conversations about kindness, empathy and how we can support people who are new to Australia, and what it means to help someone feel a sense of belonging.
