Every educator deserves a much needed break 🍫

At Westcare ELC we know how hard our team works every single day, giving their energy, care and patience to our little learners. Today we made sure our amazing educators took a moment to pause, recharge and enjoy a small treat… because sometimes all you need is a break and a KitKat!

Algebra 💚🧡

The Binomial and Trinomial Cubes are two of the most fascinating materials in the Montessori curriculum. At their most basic level, they are simply 3D puzzles which challenge the child to rebuild the cubes and prisms into a larger cube.

The child uses the colour coding of the shapes to match and build each level. It’s not easy, but our Kindy children took the challenge this week with great excitement.

The material is also an exercise in Algebra and Geometry, representing in concrete form the cube of a binomial (a+b)^3 and a trinomial (a+b+c)^3 where a= 3cm, b=4cm and c=5cm, but we don’t talk about that while we're doing it! It’s all about building visual and muscle memory for future use, and enjoying the language of Mathematics.
