We’re hiding creatures inside paintings, growing impossible gardens, sculpting miniature feasts, seeing the world through a bug’s eyes, building impossible places bringing cartoons to life & more!
PLUS, we’re finishing the holiday with an epic full-day D&D adventure - The Quest for the Sword of Gazkabar! 🐉⚔️✨

💥 Our workshops are artist-led, student-centred and built around ambitious creative concepts that encourage experimentation, imagination and original thinking. Every young artist is supported to explore their own ideas, learn new skills, take creative risks and make artworks that are uniquely theirs!

Back into our sky scenes at our Studio Saturdays art class! ☁️🎨✨

We kicked things off with today’s drawing warm-up challenge our young artists chose abstract pieces of collage paper, arranged and glued them into their sketchbooks, then used their imaginations to transform each shape into something completely new! A playful exercise in shape recognition, composition, creative thinking and seeing possibilities in unexpected forms✂️👀

Then it was back to our ongoing sky paintings, building over last week’s analogous grounds and first layers to develop colour, shape, detail and depth.

We love working on paintings across multiple sessions, giving our young artists time to slow down, experiment, make decisions and see how an artwork can grow and change through layers.

A little snippet from today’s Studio Saturday Art class, where both our younger and older artists continued working on an ongoing painting project! 🎨

Today we explored wet-in-wet painting techniques and colour theory, creating an analogous ground as the base layer for our paintings. From there, we developed compositions inspired by last week’s drawing challenge, inventing imaginative scenes in the sky! ☁️✨ Then it was time to start building up our first layer.

Lots of mixing, blending, experimenting and discovering how colours behave together🌈 More layers to come!

What did you do on the weekend? 🪱📚🎨✨

We transformed the State Library’s Treasures Wall into a colourful bookworm-making station, ready for hundreds of little readers and creators!

These free family workshops were part of the celebrations for the upcoming opening of the State Library’s Little Library this August 22 & 23, and formed part of Firstival ✨a festival celebrating first experiences and trying something new.

From cutting hundreds of puppet bases to setting up mountains of colourful foam, googly eyes and decorations, here’s a little peek at what went into bringing our Bookworm Finger Puppet workshop to life! 🥳

Join us this Saturday and Sunday to create your very own bookworm finger puppet full of personality! Will your bookworm be cheeky, adventurous, shy, funny or a little bit silly? 😜📖

Using colourful foam, drawing and plenty of imagination, create a unique character to take home and enjoy through storytelling, reading and imaginative play with the whole family!

⚔️Big Trouble in Little Goblin Town 💚

What an epic way to finish our Winter School Holiday Art Club!

Yesterday our young adventurers journeyed into a goblin-filled world where imagination led the way. Together they created memorable characters, solved unexpected challenges, made big decisions and built a story that could only exist because everyone worked together! ✨✨

Dungeons & Dragons is so much more than a game. It encourages creative thinking, collaboration, problem-solving, communication and confidence, all while inspiring children to think outside the square and embrace the unexpected🥳

With intentionally limited group numbers, every player has the opportunity to contribute, be heard and play an important role in the adventure, whether it’s their very first campaign or they’re already a seasoned hero.

A huge thank you to our amazing DM Poppy, all of our brave adventurers for making our world of Goblins such a wonderfully chaotic place to visit! 🎲

⚔️ Our Kids Dungeons & Dragons workshops will be back next school holidays✨ We can’t wait to roll the dice with you again!
