Meet the speaker: Dr Chris Yu 🩺

Chris is currently completing his anaesthesia fellowship at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, having moved to Adelaide in 2023. He trained in the UK before relocating to Australia in 2020, bringing a mix of NHS and Australian healthcare experience—which means he’s seen everything from major trauma to complex ICU patients following cardiac surgery. 🫀

He has a particular interest in managing complex co-morbid patients undergoing major surgery, as well as point-of-care cardiac ultrasound. He’s actively involved in teaching, with a focus on helping trainees prepare for anaesthetic exams and providing one-on-one teaching in theatre.

Outside of work, Chris enjoys all things food, wine and coffee—from hosting dinner parties for friends to trying out new restaurants. He also likes anything that involves being outdoors, from running and cycling to being enthusiastically average at golf. ⛳️
