π€β»οΈβ¨ Great news for Adelaide! Soft plastics recycling is finally coming back β planned to roll out within the next 12 months. π
After the collapse of the REDcycle program nearly three years ago, itβs been tough for households to recycle soft plastics. But thanks to the Soft Plastics Taskforce (Woolworths, Coles and Aldi), trials are expanding - and Adelaide is on the list! πποΈ
More information at βΆ www.abc.net.au/news/science/2025-09-12/soft-plastics-recycling-woolworths-coles-aldi-trial/105756840
This means that in the next 12 months, shoppers in our region will again be able to drop off soft plastics at selected supermarkets π€
While recycling capacity is still limited across Australia, this is a positive step forward for reducing waste and keeping valuable materials out of landfill. ππ
Weβll share more details closer to the rollout - including which stores will be participating. For now, itβs great to know that soft plastic recycling is on its way back to SA!

Fantastic post from Onkaparinga!
In Australia, around 222,000 tonnes of clothing end up in landfills every year π±, but you can help make a difference by washing your clothes less often!
Over-washing can cause fabrics to wear out quicker, so by washing only when necessary, we can extend the life of our clothes and reduce textile waste.
We can also minimise the micro plastics going into our seas and waterways because when we wash clothes made from synthetic materials microplastics get released.
Here are a few simple tips to help your clothes last longer, and save your energy consumption:
π Wash less, wear more β Spot clean stains instead of throwing clothes in the wash. This saves water and keeps your clothes in better shape!
π Use cold water β Washing in cold water is gentler on fabrics, helping preserve their colour and texture.
π Air dry β Skip the dryer and let your clothes air dry to maintain their shape and longevity.
Check out our infographic for a quick guide on how often you should wash your clothes to keep them looking great and reduce textile waste! ππ
