Today we celebrated Chinese New Year by reading a zodiac story and learning that this year is represented by the Horse. The children practiced saying β€œNi hao” (hello) and β€œXie xie” (thank you), and loved using their new words throughout the day!

We enjoyed hands-on activities including a traditional tea setting with chopsticks and a red and yellow sensory play experience symbolizing luck and happiness.

A special thanks to one of our family for sharing their traditions with us β€” it was a beautiful day of cultural learning, connection, and fun! ❀️✨

Our little scientists had so much fun exploring a volcano experiment last week! πŸŒ‹πŸ§ͺ

We started by talking about how volcanoes erupt and what they look like. The children imagined their own volcanoes, and some even asked if volcanoes can be different colours. The educator said, β€œYes! Today, you can choose your favourite colour for your volcano!”

As soon as the vinegar was poured in… the volcanoes erupted! 🌈 Lava bubbled out, and the children watched with big smiles, laughter, and lots of excitement. Everyone had a turn and loved seeing the fizzing and bubbling.

What a fun and exciting way to learn during Science Week! ❀️

Our children enjoyed listening to Garden Stew and A Good Place, which sparked curiosity about nature and the environment.

They then explored a hands-on activity using tree trunks, glue, and green crepe paper. The children carefully scrunched or placed the paper onto the branches, creating their own trees.

This creative experience encouraged fine motor development and supported their connection to the natural world.

This week, our children participated in a Reconciliation activity.
Before beginning the experience, we read a book that introduced the importance of land and people, helping the children understand and appreciate Aboriginal culture.
Our Junior Kindy and Kindy children then engaged in a meaningful art experience, using sticks as painting tools. They used this natural method to create their own coaster, connecting with the land and learning through hands-on exploration. We also enjoyed a colourful rice experience. The children explored textures and colours through sensory play. It was a beautiful way to promote respect, understanding, and creativity.

Hello Everyone,

Our kindy children have been enhancing their literacy skills through a fun and engaging sensory play experience!
Our educator set up a sensory rice tray filled with alphabet letters, and the children had a great time searching for the letters in their names. This activity supported their cognitive development as they recognized and identified letters, and also helped them learn about letter formation and how to write each one.
Hands-on learning like this makes early literacy both exciting and meaningful!

Our kindy children focused on number recognition and sensory play. The educator invited the children to assign a colour to each number at the top of the page. The children then matched the numbers and colours, creating a beautiful and engaging number-colour matching game.
This hands - on experience supported both their cognitive development and fine motor skills- while having fun with colours and numbers.
