Our next Open Day is coming up on Saturday 29 August, 10am - 4pm. Come along to see open studios, rummage through the library book sale, view student artwork displays, and take a campus tour. Hot food and a bake sale will be provided by the Student Association and barista coffee by The Coffee Pedlar Van.

We only hold two Open Days per year, so this is a rare chance to see South Australia's only independent art school in action. This is a free event to attend.

Join us on Saturday 29 August, 10am-4pm for our first Open Day of 2026.

Online workshop for teachers:

Join artist and lecturer Roy Ananda as he explores creative thinking processes designed to unpack visual arts concepts for your students. The strategies in this online workshop will help empower students to explore alternative ideas and possibilities.

Through engaging creative games that blend popular culture, and the expressive DIY spirit of zine-making, you will be able to adapt activities for all year levels and learning contexts.

2022 BVA graduate Ida Sophia is presenting an artist talk ahead of her finale performance of Patience and Penitentia at Samstag Museum of Art.

New short course: Extended Pose Life Drawing with Alex Beckinsale

We are excited to bring another new short course to the Term 4 program, which is a two-week course focusing on long-pose life drawing. Led by experienced educator
and artist Alex Beckinsale, with a different model each week holding the same pose for the 3 hour sessions.

Ideal for students ready to push their figure drawing further and build more resolved studies.

We have just added a new short course to our Term 4 Program: En Plein Air Painting with Melanie Brown, held at Carrick Hill House.

This one-day En Plein Air workshop will guide participants through on-site techniques to create landscape paintings in response to the estate and gardens. Melanie Brown is an established painter, and longtime lecturer at Adelaide Central School of Art.
