Wilbur’s Wildlife Visit
We were excited to welcome Wilbur’s Wildlife for a special visit with the children. This hands on experience gave children the opportunity to safely meet and learn about a range of animals, including lizards, snakes, a frog a turtle, a Bettong and a possum.
Interacting with the animals in a calm and supported environment helped the children build curiosity, confidence and respect for living things. As they observed different textures, movements and behaviours, the children developed early science skills such as noticing, questioning, comparing and describing what they saw.
These experiences also support children’s social and emotional learning. Waiting for a turn, listening to instructions, using gentle hands and talking about how animals needed to be cared for all helped children practice empathy, self regulation and responsibility.
It was wonderful to see the children’s wonder and excitement as they learned more about the natural world through this memorable visit. This included some interesting facts like a frog uses their eyeballs to help them eat, turtles can breathe through their bottom and we even got to ask how a snake scratches itself if it’s got an itch.

Happy Early Childhood Educators Day to our wonderful team at Seaton Community Children’s Centre! Your passion, dedication and energy are valued and appreciated not only within our service, but within the sector.

I'd also like to acknowledge our Director, Carrie for her strong leadership and advocacy for the sector. This morning, while we were enjoying opening the thoughtful gifts Carrie organised for the educators, she was at Parliament House talking about how tirelessly educators commit themselves to making a difference, one child and one family at a time.

Thank you Carrie, you are definitely the advocate the sector needs, and you somehow manage to balance that with all of the other roles you do - including being a fabulous Director! (Hope you enjoyed the delicious Parliament House scones!! 😁)

Ngaitalya,
Jodie and the team!

We’re excited to share that our new Spring Menu 2026 starts today and will run through to the last week of November! 🌸🌱

This fresh 4-week rotating menu has been thoughtfully created to celebrate the new season, with plenty of fresh seasonal ingredients, colourful fruits and vegetables, and nutritious meals to support the children’s growth, wellbeing, and diverse dietary needs.

This season, we are continuing to celebrate different cultures through food, with a variety of flavours and texture. We hope this gives the children wonderful opportunities to explore new flavours and experience foods from different cultures. 🌎🍽️

Families will also continue to see the daily vegetarian option included on the menu 🌱, making it easy to follow what is being offered each day.

As always, small changes may occasionally occur due to ingredient availability or deliveries; however, any updates will be communicated on the daily room sheets.

We hope the children enjoy exploring all the fresh flavours and colours that Spring has to offer! 🌸🥕🍓

Chef Chris 🌻👩‍🍳

Naa marni!

Happy Friday to you all! Just a little post to show our fish loving community some evidence that Calvin, our resident catfish, DOES occasionally come out of his 'log' during the day!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Jodie 😁🐠🐟

🔬🌱 Science Week🌱🔬

Science Week is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the natural curiosity and wonder children bring to their learning every day! Through hands-on investigations, children are developing important learning dispositions such as curiosity, persistence, creativity, confidence, cooperation and a willingness to experiment.

Whether the children are asking “Why?”, making predictions, testing an idea, discovering something unexpected or trying again when things don’t go to plan, children are building the foundations of lifelong learning. 🧪✨

We love seeing our children wonder, investigate, problem-solve and discover as they make sense of the world around them!

Ngaitalya,
Sam 🌻

🥟✨ **Learning Together: Dumpling Making!** ✨🥟

We had a visit from students from Seaton High Schools Year 10 Home Ec class, who joined us for a very special cooking experience with the children!

Together, the students and children made delicious dumplings, exploring ingredients, textures, shapes, and the process of preparing food. It was a fantastic opportunity for our children to learn alongside older students, build connections within our community, and develop confidence as they participated in a hands-on cooking experience.

The experience encouraged fine motor skills, language, cooperation, following instructions, problem-solving and early mathematical thinking as the children measured, filled, folded and created their dumplings. Most importantly, it was a beautiful opportunity for children and young people to learn with and from one another 🥟 🤩🙌

Naa marni!

Once again, we are having connection problems today!

At this stage, we have no internet, which means no email access and no phones.

We are able to call out on the service mobile if we need to, however you won't be able call us.

Apologies - we are trying to resolve this as quickly as possible.

Have a great day!

Ngaitalya,
Carrie and Jodie 😊

Sorry everyone we’re having internet and phone issues today!

Just when we think we’ve got it fixed, it drops out again.

A big thank you to Serena for transforming our hanging display into a magical Fairy Daydream! Filled with whimsical fairies, fluffy clouds, flowers, and colourful details, this beautiful creation has brought a sense of wonder and imagination into our learning environment.

Thoughtfully designed learning spaces inspire children's curiosity, creativity, and storytelling. As children look up, explore the display, and create their own magical adventures, they are developing language, imaginative thinking, and a sense of belonging within their environment.

Thank you, Serena, for sharing your creativity and helping make our space even more magical for our children (who have been showing an interest in magical small world play). 💜🌸🧚
