At the end of term we have a movie and popcorn! What to watch is always a hot topic for discussion. Voting for our choices to give children a chance to have a choice, not always get what they really want and to unpack this data to mean something that can be actioned is part of our end of term celebrations and rituals!

"So I take this word Reconciliation and I use it to reconcile people back to Mother Earth, so they can walk this land together and heal one another because she's the one that gives birth to everything we see around us, everything we need to survive"

As we continue our journey in exploring how we can embed Aboriginal perspectives into our pedagogy, we continued our conversation with the children, families and U.Ivan Tiwu-Copley.
U. Ivan Tiwu-Copkey is of Aboriginal descent from the Peramangk people, the Kaurna people of the Adelaide plains and the Minang peopk of Western Austraila. He has worked with the staff team and today we went for a walk in our local community and to our favourite playground. We learnt about sticky w**d and peppercorn from local trees. We hope to continue to explore the land and learn more about ground covers, trees and indigenous plants.

To come together at the end of the term, our team walked 11km to support the Shamri Bright walk to raise money for Adelaide research for a range of life threatening diseases. It gave us time to connect as a team and raise money for a great cause .

As we farewell the children leaving to school we hope that you continue to be partners in your learning and extend and view risks as benefits, we hope that there is a sense of belonging to the new spaces you venture into and that your learning extends beyond your school and takes you out into the community. Hope everyone has a happy term break.

Last week we went to the Art Gallery. We danced in the gallery and then created our own art in the studio. For children to be immersed in an environment with different art media, sculpture and painting was such a privilege. We also engaged with a contemporary Aboriginal Artist, George Cooley''s paintings of Cooper Pedy.
Was it worth all the paperwork, Risk Benefit Analysis and planning! ABSOLUTELY!!! Highly recommend this excursion.

Our pod swings are the perfect place to rest, relax and take time away from a busy kindergarten day! Didn't quite capture the moment where two friends in their own pods were holding hands and swinging! Being, Belonging and Becoming perfectly captured!
