Some pastas ask for machines. Pici ask for hands.
For Sunday Winter Warmers at the Italian Table, guests will make pici by hand — an old Tuscan pasta rolled under the palms into long, rustic strands. It is simple, playful and wonderfully imperfect, almost like making little skipping ropes from pasta dough.
Pici are Tuscan by birth, especially tied to southern Tuscany around Siena, the Val d’Orcia and the Val di Chiana. But the feeling behind them belongs beautifully at a Southern Italian winter table: flour and water, patient hands, strong sauces, wine poured by George's Folly Wines , and a shared table.
You do not need to be an experienced cook. The day is warm, relaxed and guided step by step.

A closer look at Sunday Winter Warmers at the Italian Table.
Much of Southern Italian cooking is beautifully simple. A few in-season ingredients, prepared in the old way — with patience, instinct, and the little details passed down through families — can become something deeply comforting, generous & full of flavour.
That is what we love about this upcoming winter cooking experience.
It is not a formal demonstration where you sit back and watch. You’ll be part of the pici pasta preparation, the cooking of the zuppa, the tasting of George's Folly Wines and the conversation over a Cello Liqueur
Along the way, you’ll learn through doing — the feel of the dough, the rhythm of the preparation, the little decisions that matter, and the traditions behind the food.
The first places have already been booked, and we keep the group intentionally small so the day feels relaxed, personal and generous.

Bookings are now open for Sunday Winter Warmers at the Italian Table.
This cooking experience, inspired by southern Italian food traditions, is not a cooking demonstration. It is a welcoming, hands-on cooking experience with seasonal dishes, generous hospitality and the pleasure of cooking and eating together — with winter menu teasers including zuppa di polpette and handmade pici pasta.
Guests take part in the preparation, the cooking, the tasting and the conversation, before sitting down to enjoy a shared long lunch shaped by the season and the joy of good company. All accompanied by George's Folly Wines , Cello Liqueur and Back 2 Basics Traditions products.

A delicious shared table from Sunday.
We had the pleasure of catering for the Rebel Heart Journeys retreat day at the Collective Soul Centre, creating a generous seasonal lunch built around comfort, colour and simple food made well.
The menu included in-season zuppa di funghi, frittata, garlic bread and fresh salads — the kind of food that feels nourishing, relaxed and made to be shared.
It is always a pleasure to create food for spaces like this, where the table becomes part of the day’s experience.
Thank you for having us.

A Southern Italian (Calabrese) tradition - Easter Gute.
Instead of the chocolate Easter eggs we are all so accustomed to, we grew up with Gute - an Italian Easter “egg” made by hand and baked with whole eggs.
For generations, they have been part of Easter across Calabria, with the egg symbolising rebirth and each shape carrying its own meaning from family to family.
Not fancy. Not complicated. A delicious Easter tradition that carries more than flavour - it carries story, meaning and family.
This is what keeping tradition alive looks like.
