on request. The bamboo straws have been made from a small cottage industry, which is basically a small family and their neighbours. The hand-crafted straws are made from a species of wild bamboo which is quite rare. It’s harvested from Asia where it grows on steep riverbanks, and is then dried in the sun until it can be cut to length and hand-polished with sand. This is a very labour-intensive process. The cottage industry provides employment for the family and neighbours. In addition we support a small turtle conservation centre on the beautiful Perhentian Islands in Malaysia, so please support us by replacing your plastic straws with bamboo straws, teaspoons of change, acting locally, impacting globally!! Each wooden straw derives from a single stem of bamboo, unique in its own variance of color, thickness and texture and diameter. No pesticides or chemicals are used while growing or cleaning our straws! (PLEASE NOTE: Due to natural variance in diameter, these straws may not fit through certain travel mug lids)

They won't break when you drop them like glass straws and won’t pollute our planet like plastic straws. CARING FOR YOUR Bambusa STRAWS Use a small thin brush to clean the interior of the straw with warm soapy water. Then dry on a dish rack. If, after using with strongly flavored drinks (like milk shakes,) a deeper clean is desirable, soak and shake in warm water and mild vinegar solution. Avoid soaking your straws for hours, bamboo becomes soft. We do not recommend placing the straws in the dishwasher.
