The team finished 3rd overall, an outstanding achievement and a testament to their hard work and teamwork throughout the week.

We are incredibly proud of Mason's effort, sportsmanship, and dedication. Well done, Mason! πŸ’›πŸ’š

πŸ–€πŸ’›β€οΈ As National Reconciliation Week comes to a close… β€οΈπŸ’›πŸ–€

This week may be ending, but the work of reconciliation continues every day at North Haven School.

This year’s theme, β€œAll In,” reminds us that reconciliation is a shared journey β€” one that calls on all of us to listen, learn, connect and take meaningful action together.

This beautiful artwork, created collaboratively by our students and our Aboriginal Community Education Officer, Richanda, reflects the power of coming together, sharing stories and walking forward side by side.

At North Haven School, we remain committed to embedding reconciliation into our learning, strengthening understanding, and creating a future where everyone belongs.

Because when we are All In, we build stronger connections, deeper respect and a brighter future for all.

βš½πŸ’™ A very special moment for our Year 2 class! πŸ’™βš½

Yesterday, our Year 2 students watched highlights from the Women’s FA Cup Final between Brighton & Hove Albion FC and Manchester City β€” and were thrilled to spot two very familiar faces on the big stage!

Niko and Nina, whose family was part of our North Haven School community during Terms 1 and 2 this year, had the incredible opportunity to walk out onto Wembley Stadium alongside the players in front of a crowd of more than 40,000 people.

Their father, Dario VidoΕ‘iΔ‡, is the manager of Brighton & Hove Albion Women’s Team, making this an extra special moment for their family. It was wonderful for our students to see Niko and Nina involved in such an amazing occasion after recently being part of our school community.

We are so proud of Niko and Nina and wish them and their family all the very best as they continue their exciting adventure in England 🌟

πŸ–€πŸ’›β€οΈ **Celebrating Culture and Connection** β€οΈπŸ’›πŸ–€

As part of **National Reconciliation Week**, our senior Aboriginal students were lucky enough to attend the **Rec in the West** event.

This special opportunity allowed students to come together to celebrate culture, identity and connection, while engaging in meaningful activities and experiences alongside other students from across the community.

A big thank you to our Aboriginal Community Engagement Officer, Richanda, our Aboriginal Education Teacher, Liz, and our Pastoral Care Worker, Hamish, for facilitating this valuable experience for our students.

We are proud to support opportunities that strengthen cultural identity, connection and belonging. ✨

πŸ–€πŸ’›β€οΈ Recognising National Reconciliation Week and National Sorry Day β€οΈπŸ’›πŸ–€

At North Haven School, we have been taking time to reflect, learn and recognise the importance of National Reconciliation Week and National Sorry Day.

Following our whole-school day of recognition last week, students have continued their journey of learning and reflection by visiting our library to explore the beautiful Sorry Day display and collection of Aboriginal artefacts thoughtfully put together by our library team.

These opportunities help our students deepen their understanding of Australia’s shared history, honour the stories and experiences of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and reflect on this year’s theme of β€œAll In.”

We thank our library team for creating such a meaningful space for learning, reflection and connection.

πŸ¦‹πŸŒΏ On Wednesday, Mr. Box’s Year 2 class visited the beautiful Adelaide Botanic Garden!
Students explored butterfly gardens, learnt about the butterfly life cycle πŸ›βž‘οΈπŸ¦‹, discovered what butterflies need to survive πŸŒΈβ˜€οΈπŸ’§ and took part in a fantastic education program with the Botanic Gardens team. We were very grateful to have the very knowledgeable Mak teach us all about the gardens!

We also enjoyed the sensory trail πŸ‘£, explored the gardens 🌳 and collected lots of ideas to help create a butterfly-friendly space back at school! πŸ«πŸ¦‹

Our students showed wonderful curiosity, teamwork and respect for nature throughout the day. πŸ’š

A huge thank you to our amazing parent volunteers for helping make the day such a success! πŸ‘πŸ˜Š

πŸ–€πŸ’›β€οΈ Reconciliation Week – All In β€οΈπŸ’›πŸ–€

Next week is National Reconciliation Week, and today our school came together for a range of whole-school activities connected to this year’s theme: β€œAll In.”

Between recess and lunch, each class took part in activities to recognise and celebrate reconciliation, including weaving, damper making, rock painting, mask and flag making, designing Indigenous Round football guernseys and boomerangs, and more. 🌿🎨

Students also had the opportunity to try kangaroo sausages and damper with native jams before we finished the day with an β€œAll In” whole-school lunch on the oval. β˜€οΈπŸŒ

It was wonderful to see our students learning, connecting, and celebrating together as we continue to grow our understanding and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.

πŸŽπŸ‡―πŸ‡΅ Celebrating Kodomo no Hi in Japanese πŸ‡―πŸ‡΅πŸŽ

Students have been learning about Kodomo no Hi (Children’s Day), celebrated in Japan on May 5th. They explored traditions such as koinobori (carp streamers) and kabuto (samurai helmets), which symbolise hopes for children to grow up brave, strong, and determined. πŸ’ͺ✨

Students created their own origami carp and samurai helmets, as well as colourful koinobori artworks representing their families and Kintaro characters to symbolise strength. Lucas Sensei also helped bring the celebration to life by displaying some huge carp streamers in the courtyard! 🎏🌈

It’s been wonderful seeing our students dive into Japanese culture with so much creativity and enthusiasm.
