This week, we celebrated our incredible team at Goodstart Magill and the genuine care, dedication and love they show every child who walks through our doors. ❤️

There is so much that happens behind the scenes that families may not always see. Our educators uphold important standards and expectations every day to ensure the health, safety, wellbeing, learning and development of every child in our care.

It takes patience, knowledge, commitment and a whole lot of heart to be an early childhood educator — and we are so proud of the wonderful team we have at Goodstart Magill. 🥰

👀✨ Optometrist Visit at Goodstart Magill! ✨👀

Today we welcomed Neda, who spent time checking the children’s vision using a range of fun, age-appropriate tools and techniques to make the experience engaging and comfortable for everyone. 💛

Neda takes the time to thoroughly observe each child’s vision and, following the visit, provides families with a report summarising her observations.

Where further support may be beneficial, families are provided with helpful resources, recommended exercises and follow-up advice. 🌟

We love supporting our children’s health, wellbeing and development and connecting families with professionals who help give our children the best start! 🥰👓

Ever had one of those "What should I be doing with my child?" moments? You might already have the answer at home.

Earlier this year, every Goodstart family received a What & When for Families guide for each child. If it's been tucked away in a drawer since then, now might be the perfect time to pull it back out.

The guide is packed with simple, play-based activities that support your child's learning and development at home. Best of all, it's written in your child's voice, with ideas tailored to their age and developmental stage.

From singing songs with babies and playing peek-a-boo, to "I Spy" games, storytelling and treasure hunts with older children, the activities are designed to fit naturally into everyday moments you already share together.

We know learning doesn't only happen in the classroom. Those small moments at home can help build big communication, language and literacy skills.

🥛🌈 MAGIC MILK! 🔬✨

Science Week has been full of wonder, curiosity and lots of colourful discoveries at Goodstart Magill! 🧪🌈

Today, the children explored the amazing Magic Milk experiment! We added colourful drops of food dye to milk before using a little dishwashing liquid to create a spectacular swirling reaction. 😍

The children watched in amazement as the colours danced, moved and spread across the milk, making their own beautiful patterns! 🎨✨

Through this hands-on experience, the children were encouraged to make predictions, observe changes, ask questions and explore cause and effect — all while having lots of fun! 🔎💭

🔬🌋 Volcano Experiment Fun! 🌋🔬

Our young scientists had an exciting time exploring chemical reactions with a volcano experiment!

Using baking soda and vinegar, the children discovered how two ingredients can react to create a gas called carbon dioxide. This is the same gas that gives fizzy drinks their bubbles! When the gas was produced, it quickly expanded and needed more space, causing our volcano to erupt with lots of bubbly excitement.

Through this hands-on experience, the children observed cause and effect, made predictions, and developed their curiosity about how things work. Learning through play helps build important scientific thinking skills while making learning fun and memorable.

We have some very exciting news from our worm farm… our earthworms have laid eggs! 🎉🪱
The children have been observing, investigating and caring for our worms, and now we’re seeing the next stage of their life cycle! 🔍🌿

🪱 From One Little Worm to a Whole Learning Journey! 🌱

It all started with a simple moment of curiosity. While exploring our outdoor environment, two children discovered a single worm while digging in the garden. Rather than letting the moment pass, our educators recognised it as the beginning of an exciting investigation, following the Teaching and Learning Cycle.

👀 Observe – Educators noticed the children’s fascination with the worm and listened to their questions and wonderings.

💡 Plan – Together, we planned experiences to build on their curiosity, exploring worms, their life cycle, habitats, and the important role they play in caring for our environment.

🌿 Implement – The children researched what worms need to survive, visited the community garden, explored composting, created their own worm habitats from recycled materials, and are now working towards establishing a worm farm here at Goodstart Magill.

📖 Reflect & Extend – Throughout the project, the children have confidently shared their ideas, asked thoughtful questions, solved problems together, and developed a deeper understanding of sustainability and caring for living things.

This project is a wonderful example of how meaningful learning begins with children’s interests. By following their curiosity, our educators create engaging experiences that inspire investigation, critical thinking, creativity, and a lifelong love of learning. 💚
