๐๏ธโ๏ธ Learning Beyond the Classroom: Year 6 HASS Excursion
Our Year 6 students stepped beyond the classroom today as they explored the heart of South Australiaโs democracy and history during their HASS excursion to Parliament House, Adelaide and Adelaide Oval.
As part of their ongoing learning in HASS, students have been exploring the three levels of government and how parliament operates. This excursion provided a valuable opportunity to bring their learning to life as they toured Parliament House, discovered more about the role of government, and gained insight into how decisions are made that shape our community.
The learning continued at Adelaide Oval, where students explored one of South Australiaโs most iconic landmarks, discovering its rich history, cultural significance and the important role it plays within our state. The guided experience provided students with a unique opportunity to connect with place, history and community.
A wonderful day of curiosity, questions, connections and real-world learning! A big thank you to our staff and parent helpers who supported our students throughout the day. ๐

Please join us in welcoming Paul, our newly appointed Maintenance and Groundsman!
Paul has strong ties to our local community, having grown up just around the corner on Stanley Street. After travelling the world and working in schools across the UK, including the prestigious Haberdashers' Girls' School in Hertfordshire and here in South Australia, he now proudly calls the Southern Suburbs home.
Outside of work, Paul is an active member of the Christies Beach Surf Life Saving Club and enjoys hitting the trails as an avid mountain biker.
We're excited to have Paul join the Antonio Catholic School community and look forward to the positive impact he'll make around our school. Welcome, Paul! ๐

๐ A Week of Meaningful Learning Beyond the Classroom ๐
Our students enjoyed a range of enriching excursions this past week, connecting their learning with real-world experiences and deepening their understanding of history, culture and storytelling.
โ Year 4 students visited the Maritime Museum and the Aboriginal galleries at the South Australian Museum. Through exploring historic boats, navigational tools, sea journeys, artefacts and artworks, students gained valuable insights into Australia's maritime history and Aboriginal perspectives and experiences.
๐ Year 2 students immersed themselves in storytelling and Indigenous history through visits to Carrick Hill and the Living Kaurna Cultural Centre. They explored the Story Book Trail, discovered classic tales brought to life in nature, and participated in hands-on cultural activities, including ochre play and jewellery making. These experiences inspired creativity while strengthening connections to Kaurna culture and storytelling traditions.
๐ค As part of National Reconciliation Week, a contingent of students and staff were honoured to attend Cardijn College's Welcome to Country Ceremony. Following the ceremony, our group enjoyed morning tea and a tour of the Nunga Room. It was a meaningful opportunity for our communities to come together in respect, reflection and connection.
