Specialised Assistance School for Youth (SASY) is an independent secondary school that engages with vulnerable students who have complex needs, reigniting their interest in education through holistic learning practices that focus on wellbeing. Established in 2016, Specialised Assistance School for Youth (SASY) is the first school of its type in South Australia. SASY caters for students whose need

⏪Last week, members of our RAP Committee and other staff, had the privilege of attending the local Reconciliation Week Breakfast, joining community members, organisations, and leaders in reflecting on our shared journey towards reconciliation. ☕✨

This year’s theme, “All In”, is a call for everyone to play a part in reconciliation. It reminds us that meaningful change happens when we all commit to listening, learning, building relationships, and taking action together. 🤝🌿

The breakfast provided an opportunity to hear powerful stories, celebrate the strength and resilience of First Nations peoples, and reflect on how we can continue to create more inclusive and culturally safe communities. 🖤💛❤️

We are grateful to have been part of this important event and remain committed to being ‘IN ALL’ as we continue learning, growing, and walking alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. ✨

Respect Connection WalkingTogether 🖤💛❤️🌿

🖤💛❤️ The Importance of Acknowledgement of Country ❤️💛🖤

An Acknowledgement of Country is a meaningful way to show respect for the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we live, learn, and work. 🌿

It recognises the enduring connection that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have to Country, culture, community, and history — connections that have existed for tens of thousands of years. ✨

Taking the time to acknowledge Country helps us reflect on the past, honour the present, and work together towards a more respectful and inclusive future. 🤝

This Reconciliation Week, we encourage our community to listen, learn, and deepen our understanding of the stories, cultures, and contributions of First Nations peoples. 🌏💚

Together, we can strengthen relationships, foster respect, and walk the path of reconciliation. 🖤💛❤️

🍃🖤💛❤️ Reconciliation Week at Middle School ❤️💛🖤🍃

Our talented chef Anna Maria has been cooking up a storm this Reconciliation Week, incorporating native Australian ingredients into some student favourites.

Students enjoyed a delicious range of creations, including:
🍫 Wattleseed brownies
🍪 Lemon myrtle cookies
🍕 Lemon myrtle halloumi pizza
🍗 Native-inspired chicken pizza

By exploring native ingredients through food, students have the opportunity to connect with and celebrate the rich cultures, knowledge, and traditions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

What a wonderful way to learn, share, and bring people together through food. 🌿✨

🤝This Acknowledgement of Country is more than words — it’s a commitment to connection, respect and community.

🍃We honour the Kaurna people, the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we work, learn and grow together. We recognise the importance of listening, learning and walking alongside First Nations peoples with respect and care.

SASY IS ALL IN this National Reconciliation Week 🖤💛❤️

👂🗣️ A time to reflect, listen, learn and walk together toward truth, healing and unity. Today we honour the cultures, stories and strength of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples — the oldest continuing cultures in the world. 🌎

🤝 Real reconciliation means more than words. It means respect, understanding and action every day. Always was, always will be Aboriginal land.

Blast from the past… 💥🕰️

There were once three extraordinary people — Nic, Maria, and Rosie, 10 years ago our founders shared a vision to create a space that combines wellbeing and education for vulnerable young people, from this they built something truly special. ✨

What started as an idea became a community powered by passion, care, and unwavering dedication.

Their heart and soul are woven into everything SASY is today — and we are so grateful for the legacy they’ve created. 💙

🌱Growth & Milestones 🏫

A moment that marked the beginning…

In 2016, the Lord Mayor Martin Haese officially opened SASY — a proud milestone in our journey. From one building on Chesser St, grew to four buildings and now two thriving campuses, we’ve grown alongside the needs of our community.

Each space tells a story of opportunity, support, and transformation. And this is only the beginning. 🌱
