As an early childhood professional, it can be difficult to find the right balance between what we encourage children to celebrate that aligns with the diversity of individual families and communities. Educators have the opportunity to share with children what inclusion looks like as we approach the holiday season. This infographic from Diversity Kids highlights some of the ways educators can approach these discussions. What are some ways you acknowledge diversity to ensure every family, child, and educator feels included?

We’re thrilled to announce that our much-loved Christmas Pageant event will be going ahead on Sunday 4 December from 10am to 1pm at Beach Road, Christies Beach.
Unfortunately, the date needed to be rescheduled due to strong, coastal winds forecast for the original event date this Sunday.
A huge thank you to everyone involved for their flexibility in supporting this last-minute date change. We love hosting this event and are so grateful to all our stall holders, contractors, suppliers, and participants.
We hope you can still come along! 🥳

The educators have set up a water station for the children to have the opportunity to get their own water throughout the day. We have also added different fruit and vegetables in with the water to add some flavour for the children and to try something different.
The benefits of children pouring their own drinks can help build a child's concentration, control of body movement, and fine motor control. Pouring their own water also improves self help skills and measuring.

During Halloween, the children had the opportunity to have a go at pumpkin carving. They all were very excited to take turns and try to make a pattern in the pumpkin. Once the Children had finished their patterns they all noticed the filling inside the pumpkins and thought it was slimy and sticky when they felt what the filling was actually like.
The benefits of letting a child pumpkin carve are:
- It’s a great opportunity for sensory learning
- Creating a pumpkin design encourages critical thinking skills
- Carving a pumpkin also shows creativity and imagination
- Scooping out the inside of the pumpkin is a fun sensory experience
- Carving also develops great fine motor skills and hand eye coordination

- learn to look after and care for books and stories.
- spark children‘s imagination and stimulate curiosity.
- help develop your child’s brain, ability to focus, concentration, social skills and communication skills.
- help your child learn the difference between ‘real’ and ‘make-believe’.

Miss Kerri set up a lovely community role play scene with painted boxes that the children painted last week as well as blocks with different occupations pictures on them. We have been discussing a lot at kindy house about different jobs like police, post office and fire fighters and matching them to their buildings.

Children have feelings, opinions, boundaries, and ideas. As we celebrate Week this week, we encourage you to think about how you respect children in your service. Here are some examples of what respecting a child might look like from Seed & Sew.
