They tell us, and we know it. Deep down, we know it. No grown human being would believe that any animal willingly submits to being used or killed. There are always signs at some point, and those signs are ignored.

It's always the people who could be vegan, but just don't want to, who cry "privilege". I've talked to homeless people who care deeply about the plight of animals and want to do their best to avoid animal products. So just be careful that you're not using other people's situations as an excuse, when YOU could be vegan.

(Footnote: Humans are also exploited in wars, which is also wrong. Although, unlike animals, they may be convinced there's something to gain from it and believe they have stakes in the matter... But anyway, war just sucks in general. Abolish war.)

A vegan world is one without pets. Whilst for some that can seem like a hard pill to swallow, the whole point of veganism is that we abolish animal exploitation, regardless of the benefits it provides us. In the meantime, there are hundreds of thousands of healthy animals in shelters right now who will be killed if not re-homed. This is unacceptable. Adopt or foster if you can.

There are no two ways about it. It is immoral to keep a cow captive, artificially impregnate her and make her grow a calf for 9 months, only to take that calf away from her forever, so that humans can take the milk meant for her calf. It is exploitation of the reproductive system of a fellow sentient being. How can anyone see this as anything but completely depraved?
